: Yet another stupid knuckle swap Question

I have 72 FJ axles on my samurai. I've conv. to later(79?) FJ outers, 30 spline longs, turned the knuckles and made some histeer arms several years ago.

I am about ready to go full hydro steering and want to run some good hysteer arms. I was wondering if I could swap in just the knuckles from a mini truck or do I need to run the whole outers(brakes, spindles, hubs, etc)?

I have a set of stripped down knuckles and thought I might pick some of your brains before I start pulling my front end apart.

Thanks, Tim

79 cruiser knuckles should be the same as mini truck, spindles too. The only difference is the rotor and caliper are vented on the cruiser (but interchangable).
If you have the 76-77 small (steering arm) pattern knuckles, everything should swap right onto the larger pattern mini knuckles.

So it sounds like no matter what, these mini knuckles I have will bolt right in or won't even be needed. Awsome, I'll go check it out!!!

Thanks, Tim

They wont be needed. I would pick up a set of hysteer arms from Marlin and call it good. If you're going full hydro, I would tend to keep the steering junk infront of the axle vs behind for mounting simplicity. :smokin:

Thanks for the info, I knew I had seen that before but couldn't remember where.
Mine are the pre-79. Looks like I'll be swaping knuckles.
I might be giving you guy's a call on some R+P gears and flanges. I still need to change those to fine spline and you have good prices.
