I am afraid that we may have to cancel the SD leg of the PBB Tour. There has been a large fire burning in the hills around here. The really bad thing is that is has burned most of the trails in this area. June was the driest month in this area since they started keeping records in 1888. .43" of rain is all we got. The forest is too dry to be risking it. I haven't heard the official closing of the forest, but two years ago a similar thing happened, and they shut the forest down. It is so frustrating watching this happen, but at least no one has been hurt. If you would like to look at some pictures of this, check out www.dwdtv.com or www.rapidcityjournal.com.

Sorry about this. Damn environmentalist ruining the forest.

What's wierd is that on the job site I was on 2 hrs north of here, we couldn't keep the rain away. We kept getting rained out. When you get to the ND border, it gets really green.

What do you do for a living, Mutt? My pal just moved to Rapid 3 days ago and the jealousy is KILLING me! I'm a welder by trade, and a fabricator by spost. Any clues for me? By the way, got any kids?

I am an assistant project manager for an electrical construction company. I think I met your friend the other night. I stopped by Brad William's shop and there was a guy who just moved here. Do you know Jim Lei? I used to work with him. Right now, there isn't anything good in this area. Economy is down everywhere.

Hey Guys!!! The girlfriend and I are still kind of planning on coming down, the Hills is where we spend our Vacation every year. We are thinkin about leaving the 12th or 13th and staying until the 21st. Have they closed the Hills to off road yet??? It sounds as if we and one other jeep will be the only ones coming down, but we might have to go else where for vacation if they close the trails!!! Keep us informed. I have a wedding reception to go to at the Radisson in Rapid on Friday night, So we could meet some where close to Rapid Sat morning. Where did this fire start, we usually wheel SE of Lead and Deadwood, the creekbed by Kong is a fun ride! Haven't gotten the courage to destroy the girlfriends jeep on Kong yet!!!

Those areas are exactly where the fire is right now. That whole area where Kong, Fullsize, Hal Johns, Calamity, and Twisted are is closed to traffic to get close.

Damn, I would HATE to see TWISTED go up in smoke, the trail is nothing BUT trees.
Yeah, I met Jim last July. He just moved to Sioux Falls(about an hour and a half from me). Bradley's new house bitch is Chad Bolman(but you will call him Stinky after a day of wheelin!). He's good to have around, kind of a wiring freak. Has a bit of an ego, but once you prove him wrong, he'll trip all over himself for the rest of the day! I just got my 60's back from Bradley, he did a great job on them.
