: tie rod and drag link ends..
Brandon 08-30-2001, 02:49 PM Anyone know a good place to get this stuff? I am running the 7/8" tapped drag link and tie rod. I need right and left ends and one with the hole for the stabilizer to retap for the drag link and I need a short draglink end if that makes any sence. Anyway just askin for a good place to get the parts and if possible part numbers
So basically you want the rod ends from an 81 chevy blazer
Brandon 08-30-2001, 02:52 PM thanks, I'll take what I have to the parts store and make sure that is what I want - guess that is the norm?
I borrowed the steering from someone and it works perfect so I just need to get replacement ends and get the rods tapped

I dont have the part #'s on me, but thats what I bought at the store when I did mine a few weeks back (I think? .. no Im pretty sure) if its not 81 its a few years later, like 85 or something.
I am using the following....
Tie Rod:
ES2233L for pass side (reamed hole for TRE)
ES2234R for driver side
Drag Link:
ES2027L for pitman arm (high angle)
ES2234R for pass side (mounts to TRE ES2233L)
I order my parts from carparts.com or partsamerica.com when they have coupons.

Sounds like Eric has the #'s right. I have some vehicle apps on my 44 swap page. Basically '85 Blazer.
I bought all my ends at Autozone w/ lifetime waranty. I think they're all around $25/ea. That Dodge one I used is more though.
Brandon 08-30-2001, 03:08 PM thanks, glad I asked and that pic helps - I need that short drag link end, the right and left drag link ends and the one with a hole in it - off to autozone after work I go
Eight will be glad cause I can give his back soon
BillaVista 08-30-2001, 03:10 PM Well here's a question.
Maybe everybody and his dog already knew this, but I found out today the hard way that the R and L in the part numbers does not (at least not always) refer to the "hand" of the thread, but to the side of the vehicle the part was on.
As it turns out, the ES375R and L I am using - the R is on the right side and has the LEFT hand threads, and vice versa.
So question is, is it convention to use the ends on the side of the vehicle opposite from the "hand" of the threads. i.e will a xxxxL (almost) always be from the left side and have RIGHt hand threads???
Anyone?
Brandon....
My numbers were for my setup with the drag link that mounts into the tie rod. ErikB is probably using two mounting holes on the steering arm to mount the tie rod and drag link. This is why he is using different numbers than I am.
Application was 85 Chevy K10 PU.

the same setup as Mikes.
I'll try to post them tonight.
One more thing.....
ES2233L and ES2234R come with jam nuts. If they don't, they should.
This tie rod on this is 85 blazer. With the one rod end re-reamed. http://63.203.239.146/mike/Pictures/tierod/completed.jpg
Brandon 08-30-2001, 03:33 PM hey your drag link end is on the wrong end
$108.46 for all of it at kragen.com
not bad but mcQuay Norris
$158.01 at carparts but Moog
I'll see what autozone can do when I go there..
Is that solid stock? I am having someone tap mine but after the fact and paying out my arse just wondering if I could have done it with hand tools..
How about that reamer - any specs/cost on that?
thanks!

Yeah, but it worked for me anyway it's 1.25" .219 DOM dude, I borrowed a set of taps and did it myself with just a tap handle. .219 is pretty much the perfect size.

4x4man 08-30-2001, 07:32 PM i was a alignment man for 3 yrs,and work at autozone now. dude,,get moog. trust me, i wouldnt use mcquay norris. they have plastic inserts,,,,moog does not.moog is alot stronger in my opinion, and they are NOT even comparable to mcquay norris. moog is superior.

DippStick 08-31-2001, 12:53 PM Shit man if you'd have posted earlier...
I just finished my draglink and tierod and used very high misallignment rod ends from HM Engineering (excellent stuff) and 1.25"/0.25" 4130 sleeved with 1.5" 4130.
I have the Chevy 1 ton tie rod and draglink lying around in my shed and would have given you it for free.

This is a 40ish" piece of 1.25" .219 tubing with rod ends screwed into both ends. One of the rod ends (the drivers side for an 85 blazer) has a tapered hole on it stock for a steering dampener.. I just reamed it out bigger from the other side and used it on the passenger side to connect the droplink.

It wasn't that bad really. M/C Man did all the work - I just acted as overseer, drank the beer and played with the dog
Looks bitchin - we're going to sleeve the tie-rod the same way, it looks so good.

ES2027L

the opening where the taper comes out of the ball is an oval to allow more travel, or the sides are more closed in, then the ones shown here

HeyBeerMan 09-25-2001, 04:41 PM Does anyone know the part #'s for 3/4" tread TRE with the ovel or High angle opening?
Brandon 09-25-2001, 04:48 PM most people have insane travel and only use tie rod ends, if you use the double jointed drag link end you are not gonna over use that bad boy unless you are gumby..
