paperwork is going out this week or next for cutting my Saiga to 8-10" and was wondering if a Polychoke would give it some better "reach out and touch someone"

waste of time and effort? They do make them for Saiga external threads

Since there's no rifling to worry about, I would think the only down side would be reduced velocity? Increased muzzle blast?
I've used Poly on an old Smith Wesson semi-auto and it works well....with only lead shot. But, that's only important for waterfowlers. :D
Set that thing to X FULL and let'er rip.

I am planing on doing the same thing.
I did not know they had them for Saiga thread, though if you are cutting it doesn't matter.
Brownells sells taps I know.

yup, its on polychokes web page. they now offer them in the metric internal thread.
Thing I am trying do is figure a new adjustable gas system. I want it more "user friendly". It may be as simple as making it so the adjustment button is actualy a button that I can work with my fingers or re do it in its entirety
I like this button and it would be not hard at all to make, hell even the whole thing would not be that much of a bitch.

Regarding the PC if you are going to cut and rethread I don't think it matters which one you use. Specially if the S12 is more expensive then say for a 870.
Interesting on the gas regulator. What is the reasoning behind you wanting to do the mod? Same idea as an FAL? Is there really a problem being solved or just something to tinker with?
I guess with an FA it would work like a speed regulator
