if your looking for a kit try: http://www.dandcextreme.com/index.asp

other than that, just search through the build threads (not just ih, try jeep toyota and other) and get some ideas.

Better get a big can of turd polish. Disc brakes, FF kit and cro mo axles are in your future. :flipoff2:

ehh, 44 rears aren't that bad. a 1-ton axle will happen in your future most likely, but 44 rears are stronger than a stock 79 or earlier d60 front. unlike a d44 front, VERY unlike a d44 front.

your front axle will be your tire size limiter.

Yeah. I got about $1200 into my 44 rear. I'm happy with it. Would I link it up, probably not. But whatever. I see the guys point. At least all the links will be there for when he does upgrade.

I couldn't build a 60 with what I wanted that cheap. I have the super offset waggy rear to match my T-case output. Plus its lighter and has better clearance. It suits my rig and my needs just fine.

So what did you want???

Pic & Pull D60 90.00
ARB 650.00
Dutchman 1.5” 35 spline axles 350.00
Ford Motorsport 11” disc kit 300.00
Set 20 housing ends 65.00

damn thats cheap pic and pull d 60 for 90.00 locally they are about 300.00
any way i had planed on the chromo upgrade for the 44.it shouldn't break in the mall parking lot:D. plus i saw a pic in peterson 4x4 of a j@@p guy with a linked d35 and runnin 38" tires " the pic showed him changin out a broke axle." but any way i figure a 44 will serve me fine for now. i plan on a full width axle swap eventually anyway.

d60 rears bring the suck.

I got my d70hd 4.10 rear for 100, and a new lockrite for it for 230 off of ebay.

What he wanted was an offset rear end -- so Add $400 for re tubing a D60...
:shaking: What you posted is a great rear end -- don't get me wrong -- just not what Binderbound needed...

My rear on the other hand is an uber cheap boat anchor:

Craigslist 14 bolt $150
Gears (new) $200
Mile of mig wire for locker $2
Disc brake brackets $100
Brake hardware $200
Misc crap $100

Excellent for linking :D

How did we get so far off track, when we know the OP will probably buy tractor heims and schedule 40 pipe for his set up? :flipoff2::flipoff2:

When I built my rear end I wanted FF. I wanted offset. I wanted to use the same bearings, brakes, hubs, etc on all 4 corners.

My long side axle shaft is 41" long. How long was that 60 driver side shaft? I can't read the 'paint' with my phone browser.

Like I said before. It was built for exactly what I needed. If I ever dreamed of running a V-8, I never would have used it.

How many have you had to replace over the years, Rick?

I have never HAD to replace one but have replaced them all a couple times. At about $140 next day air mailed to my front door for all 16 I can afford to replace them once in while to keep things in like new condition.:smokin:

hell yeah i copied that same pic to my pc and was gonna post it but never got a chance. glad somebody stepped in i felt like i would have been burned at the stake if i didn't convert to a one ton axle. :shaking:one thing has been proven. shit will break with enough throttle and the right condition even 35 spline d 60's will go pop.:D

But twice the power and gearing. I would say its a wash really.

60's aren't the end all. Everything has a limit. Let's not forget about binder breaking his 60 right in the middle of the tube. Or breaking the knuckle off before that. He runs a tube chassi buggy.

Broke the knuckle off 3 times.:shaking:.........
If you push your machine to it's limits things like that are going to happen.:(

Thats what I'm getting at. 44's are good for a lot of stuff but super duper extreme, hardcore wheelin isnt it. His rig is full bodied on 35's. I doubt hes gonna see the same trails you did. If he was building a tube chassi jungle gym with CO's and what not, it would be a different story.

Ok you got me there BUT...

I have 300hp and 400lbs of tq and 38.5 SX's (heavy ass 38's at that) Any of you that have wheeled with me know I'm one of ''those'' guys that is out to break something :D Don't get me wrong I have broke plenty of parts but, I have also gone around plenty of broken D60 parts
