I am swapping a Dana 60 out of a 1985 1 ton into a 1977 3/4 ton suburban frame that is under my Land Cruiser. Is this a direct swap or am I going to need something? I am most concerned about the steering. I have searched and could not find info.
Thanks in advance.

It will bolt right in but you will need the bolts and plates from the 60. Steering is the same, your front driveshaft will need to be shorter. You will need the 60s brakelines too.

That is what I was wanting to hear.

Sure thing. It will give you about 2 inches of lift too.
If your burb frame has quad shocks, you may need to fab an adaptor or new shock mount on the 60. Also, when doing mine, I used 52s on front and the amount of lift that gave me offset the longer pinion housing so my driveshaft fit fine.
Steering is a swapout, but you might want to read the reams of posts on crossover/high steer/etc. as it sure seems to make things better for you offroad. But there are serious steering issues that can and will come up if you are running oversize tires. I wound up using crossover/high steer and just completed a 600 mile roadtrip in mine. I had bugs in the steering, read a lot on this board, and got her really roadworthy after some effort. And I'm running mudgrip 37s.

It currently has rough country 4" springs on front that flex very well. The rear has 4" blocks which work for now but I am hopeing to go with a shackle flip or springs.

....or just take one off per side. No need for quad shocks IMO
