what do you have??

The kit that you can buy has gauges, swithes and is ready to go, but i wannt say it's around 300 bucks:eek:

I thought about doin a York, but it's not very *cheap* on a CTD.. i'm sure i could make a bracket but it's my wife's DD and i dont have a shop anymore so working on anything is a total pain in the ass

I thought about the Puma style compressors, i could put a T in the output line and check valves going to each bag. This would let me power or air up, but not down. this is probably the most likely route i'll go.. I can always get out and push in the stems to let the air out

Anyone have a better idea? about a week before i bought 'bags i threw away a rancho 9000 compressor but i dont know it that would even go to 100 psi??

how about a ARB compressor?

OBA or the ability to air up a tire (even if it takes 20 minutes) would be extremely usefull when i'm in the middle of no where..

I'm towing anywhere from 15 minutes from my house to 5 hours away about 2-3 times per month so it's gotta be reliable

X2 on the viair. I have a 350 100% duty @ 100psi. I have it hard mounted with a 7 gallon tank. Works great for the bags, airing up tires and the air horn.

I am running a Thomas air compressor in my jeep. I bought it from currie a few years ago and it runs fine.

It is 100% duty cycle and is the same compressor found on military hmmwvs. It isn't the fastest in the world but it is SOLID.

I am on my 2nd truck with the on-board compressor setup for the airbags and I wouldn't do it any other way. The guage and switch is in the cab so I can air up and down as necessary while driving. I would think you could rig up the exact same setup with any compressor - you just run the line from the bags to the guage/switch panel - then to the compressor and wire it up. You can probably find a diagram of the setup online somewhere and copy it with your own compressor.

BTW - my current truck came with the Ride Rite? system but my old one was the Air Lift that I picked up off Craigslist for $150 with the compressor, etc. Maybe you can find something like that if cost is a concern?

I use a Bike hand pump to air up my Bags'.
I do want a compressor, but I was just going to get a Walmart brand one.
All it will do it bump air in a trailer tire at most. IMO its not need a 100-300$ compressor.

Any compressor will work. You can pick up the guages and switch panel seperately. You won't really need a compressor if you can fit a tank with enough volume on the truck. Air up the tank with the shop compressor before you go.

You can look at guages and panels at www.ride-rite.com, or find some of the mini truck websites. They have some pretty killer stuff.

I've got a 5 gallon tank and a load level valve that's exactly like the semi's use and it will last at least 2 months worth of street duty and 5 or 6 straight days of hauling weight and towing.

I also pulled the 1 ton pack out of the rear of my dually and installed 1/2 ton packs minus overload for a more comfy ride. Got the bags off ebay for less than $250 (firestone brand)

I'm pretty sure i can figure out a air source and plumb it in.. does anyone have a link for air switches?? even if the switch blows off in the cab that would be fine..

I looked around the 'net but didn't see anything in particular but i dont know what i was searching for. anyone visit any low rider sites??
