hmmmm..... well it is signed by the dealer it came from who owns a used mog etc car lot in Belgium. The truck was bought in Germany and driven to Belgium by the dealer.. so... he says and I got no reason to doubt him.
so why it would be in dutch or Flemish I have no idea.
Flemish is the language they speak in Belguim.
PM MudBunny. She should be able to translate, or at least get close.

OK, I can't speak flammisch, but I can read this... almost.
No really complicated that is.
- starting : plug the battery under driver's seat
- contact (ign.) to glow the engine for 30s (it's a diesel, isn't it ?)
- RODE knob = start knob
- killl the engine : pull the knob. (which one ?)
- turn contact off.
- battery off
The last § is about transport issues, but I don't understand it.
Diesel_Cruiser may be able to help you, too. 100% belgian flammisch guy.
footnote for MO : 1/2 Belgium speaks flammisch, 1/2 speak french
Bye,

Dutch is the main language of Belgium (Some would argue Flemish - but its basically the same as Dutch!). French is widely used as well.
Either way...I have translated your note above as follows:
To Start:
- engage the battery key, which is found under the driver's seat
- turn the key and keep it on for 30 seconds
- red button is the start button
To Turn off:
- push green button to turn engine off
- key off
- battery key off
Of High Importance:
Before driving discharge the drive links, but to prevent damage don't leave them completely empty. (this doesn't make sense to me, but is as closely translated as I can get it)
Hope this helps!

Ok,
as I shipped this truck from Belgium to the US, let's clarify a few things:
I shipped this vehicles with the instructions in Flemish for the guys loading the vehicle and in English for unloading. You got most of the translation correct except for the bottom part which says:
Air down the tires before driving the vehicle in the container. Don't air them down completely to avoid damage to the tires.
I can't help it if the English instructions get lost.
The 'high important notice' has nothing to do with the tranny issue. This truck has a new gearbox (using the old shiftplate to give you the 8 speed). And yes: I drove this truck from Germany to Belgium and then from my place to the port of Antwerp where it was loaded in a container.
Next step is that you will blame me for running out of fuel? Not a wise thing: Everybody knows that diesel injection pumps are hard to bleed.
Enough said on a forum, but I am willing to discuss this with you in direct, email me, or call me + 32 475 78 71 91.
Felt I had to react because I don't like being called an ASS.

Typical, judging people based on a translation that clearly said that the translator wasn't sure of the correctness of her translation!
AndyC: what bussiness are you in? Are you a 4x4 dealer or something?? I'm desperately looking for some parts for my Land Cruiser, maybe you could help me.

Christof,
I deal in Unimogs and Pinzgauers + Mercedes cars and trucks. Occasionally we have other off road vehicles for sale but rarely Land Cruisers.
What parts are you looking for? I can always give it a try but I am far from an expert in Land Cruisers.

No judgement made yet.... Ive left lots of room open cause I dont know for sure the whole story yet. Also, I am well aware even the good guys screw up sometimes.

Welcome to Pirate Andy.
I emailed you before posting on Pirate. I never mentioned your name here. Was waiting for good things to come out of this before I did that.
Driving it... yeah... I did say I had no reason to doubt that you drove it.
I see now that the "important" part of the flemish note has nothing to do with tranny... hmmm... guess that officially means u don’t get to be an ASS after all.. Glad to hear it!
running out of fuel... nahhhh.. how can that be your fault... Some instructions on which gas gauge had to do with which tank, along with which fuel selector switch went with what tank would have helped, but over all nahh... not your fault. We miss judged all that. Our fault and that’s why I never brought it up in the post. As to reprimming... we primed with the hand pump for a good hour or so. The fuel lines were huge and appeared to be collapsing some.. once we swapped one out to a smaller more standard line.. it primed very easily. Again not your fault. Im still wondering why the guy who built it used the huge lines. I wont change them out just yet... Im still thinkiing he may have had a good reason that I am yet to understand.
So overall.. it appears maybe most the problems that have arisen is just luck. Go figure... it's just my own dumb fawkin luck again... just like my luck with woman... bwwwwhahahahahahaahah
Serioulsy though.. I bought this rig specifically to reduce the dumb luck factor.... I liked the rebuilt tranny.. that was a HUGEE reason why I purchased. Via research I knew in advance tranny's are costly to work on.. including just clutchs. Another factor was the appearence that the engine swap was done with the best system on the market.. that impressed me as well. Again... this mean less potential for dumb luck to get me again.
But... looks like dumb luck got me again anyway. Oh well.. just another challenge to conquere.
Anyway.... to all you folk out there.. as we straighten this mess out I'll let you know the good and bad. I suspect Andy will make it mostly good.

Y'know....I knew "banden" was tires.....guess I just couldn't see it for looking.
Well I tried. Sorry if my "translation" caused any problems! :)
