nope. the spring perch width is wider on the dodge front.

The Chevy won't "bolt up" either, but it's close, just need ot outboard 1/2" on each side. The Dodge is a good candidate for narrowing into a CJ though, you can just cut the long side and end up close to Waggy width and match CJ spring pads.

79 ford is the only one that "bolts up"...

Huh? Really? You must mean just the 60, from the F350, the spring pads are the same? I've never measured my friend's plow truck, I should check it out, but don't the F350's use a really wide leaf spring?

So what should I do, Narrow or outboard, Any one have any good tech info on this axle swap, I wanna keep it full width to match my rear 14 bolt. So would I cut down the front and run wheel spacers, I run Hummer wheels so will this be an issue.:skull:

Oxjockey went through a lot of the misery that can go with this swap(it was a dodge axle). If you go find him he'll set you up.

The Dodge I used was a passenger side drop axle, on a CJ. All you have to do is measure your spring width and measure the axle and you're set. Like stated, you should be about a half an inch off, but if they used a wider spring on those, you may be set.

For mine, the axle was the same as a Chevy axle, only an earlier iteration, ie external hubs which were already phased out in that year for Chevy.

The 1979 F350 HP60 front bolts up to a YJ using 2.5" wide springs (stock YJ width). I bolted mine in Full-Width and "chico" watched me do the work :D For shock mounts I just used the spring-plate/shock-mount combo from an early 80s TTB F250. Puts the shock right on top of the spring (out of harms way) and works great with the corresponding F250 shock towers. My front axle swap made me the king of all bolt-on kings :D

The 1979 F250 HP44 will also bolt in as the spring perches are the same.

Cool, one of my club members is cutting down a F250 HP Dana 44 to 60" for his YJ, I thought the measurements were different, but now we'll have to couble check, thanks!

It all depends on the year. I think '78-'79 were the ONLY years Ford had narrow frame rails up front, thus the narrow perches and longer drivers side tube/shaft.

No doubt about the '79 F350 HP60 though because I've already done it.

I have a 78 F250 D44, and it required very little "adjustment" to get in. Had to spread the springs about 1/8 of an inch on both sides, hade to drill the hole and cut the brace for the ubolt flip, and had to torch the corners of the larger stock perches to get the ubolts to sit straight  I duinno on the 60, but my 44 went in REALLY easy!

I thought his measured a little wide, it's from an older F250, but at least it had flat-top nuckles, and he's narrowing it anyway. Damn Fords, always changing shit around, I suppose only the Wednesday axles were high pinion or some shit like that, I know you have to have a Thursday motor to use the good transmission.

My 1976 F350 donor has 2.5in wide leafs in rear, 9 layers and each are THICK ass leafs. The eye to eye is a bolt on to my cherokee. I remember the revolver shackles for XJ and YJ are the same part nubmers so Id say the leafs width will fit yj too, just the lenth thats questionable.
