I was planning on running 38.5x12.5x15 TSLs on my Scout II Dana 60 / 14 Bolt combination with plain steel wheels.

Now, I just came across a deal on (5) BFG MT's 37x12.5x17 mounted on Outlaw II rims (Aluminium). They have four trips on them and I can get them for 1K.

Having never used aluminum wheels or 17" rims for that matter any advice is appreciated.
Should I stick with plan
"A" steel wheels and TSL (non-radial) or
"B" Aluminum rims with the 37" BFG MT's

This rig will see limited use on the street only to and from trails until I can get a trailer.

Thanks, Mike

With those big anchors for diffs you better go with the bigger tires.....why not the wide TSL's?

Unless you drive it all the time go with the swampers given the choice of those two.......of course my trail rig has 37" MT/R's...:flipoff2: but I run shaved 3/4 ton diffs (12" of clearance under the bottom of the D44 front with the new tires).

I think that price is high...but 17" tires and wheels aren't cheap.

Steel is the best for offroading....alluminy is great for the mall though

I vote tsl's and steel with that choice....gotta have steel.

:flipoff2: :flipoff2:

I am thinking of getting rid of my Magnesium rims and going to black steel rims.

I just need to make sure that I have the correct back spacing.

I have lodged a stump between my bead and the rim before on an off camber in the Little Naches area and really worried!!!

Well....:D two inches is definately not enough backspacing....3.5 to 4.5 works well.
