Who makes it? IIRC, Its some japanese company. Anyways, Ive heard quite a bit about ARB's failing recently, and was wondering if one could get a Rubicon D44 unit, either from the factory or from the dealership, and if so, how much? They look more promising than an ARB from what I have heard so far.

Assuming that D-C struck the same sort of deal with the Rubby's locker supplier as they did with Dana on the Hydra-Locks, you can forget about getting one unless you thieve a set of axle tags from a rubby and fork over your first born to a stealership.

Or you just have to have a friend in the biz.

Tochigi Fuji Sanjyo

Can be activated at up to 10 mph.
Requires only 5psi to activate vs ARB 60.

Oh and when it's not a spool it's a limited slip.

:bounce: :bounce2:

I agree that if they (TFS) had not imported products into the US before the Rubicon you may have difficulties as most auto manufacturer's make agreements for US imports to only retail via the mfg outlets (stealers). However a real clever person could use the Internet to their advantage and find what other import avenues are open. ;) But TFS has imported in the past and therefore there is more than likely a round about way to get a locker.

And no, the locker for the Rubicon is not the first locker/LS diff that Tochigi Fuji Sanjyo has ever built. They are not new kids on the block.

IIRC tojico-fuji or whatever are the people that make the stock LSDs for the isuzu corporate axles and the air lockers for the mitsubishi axles. i guess that doesn't have much to do with D44s but it may give you a place to look.

Isn't the rear axle on the Montero a 6 lug Dana 44?

dunno about the montys but the newer (98+) amigos and rodeos are 6lug D44s with disc brakes. the first gen amigos and most all troopers have an isuzu 12 bolt, and all isuzus have the isuzu corp. 10 bolt up front. IIRC fujitsu-fukme makes LSDs for both in stock applications.

When you actuate the locker, it is a full spool. Otherwise, it is a limited slip...

What ARB failures??? I love mine, I just had some wiring issues to clear up but that definitely wasn't ARBs fault. BTW, you think ARBs are expensive wait til you're replacing a dealer part air locker.;)

lol um no
:flipoff2:
the newer montys are irs but the older ones have a mitsu rear...
the SR (3.5) has a 9.5 inch ring gear, 35 spline alloy shafts, that kickin selectable locker, and disc brakes all on a 59" wide axle :D by far not a d-44..

now the 3.0 have a more d-44 size axles but it is a drop out like the ford nine..

if tfs built the jeep stuff like the mitsu stuff then it should be pretty tuff

He is making the point that limited slips are useless. :D Therefore they are basically open when "off".

The 3.0 sr axle is also nice for a smaller tired rig. It is a 29 spline 12bolt, but it is beefy. The strength is about that of a ford 9, but the pinion is in a better location. It comes with an air locker, and 4.88 gears stock. :D Oh yeah, disk brakes stock.

It also is way bigger than a d44, I have seen the r&p's next to each other, and the monty gear set dwarfs the dana set. By alot.
