How hard is this to do. I have a ten spline now and I want to switch to the 30 spline flange style. I know it's not the BEST one but it will work fine for me. How hard is it to change it? Do I have to split the cases or is it something that can be accessed from the front? My Haynes manual is worthless for transfer cases and I did search to no avail so any help is appreciated. Thanks

you can do it in the truck no problem. Drain the case and then take the rear cover off the back. Remove the yoke/flange off the front, take off the seal retainer plate too. From the rear remove each piece one at a time and lay them in order on rag/cardboard. Take the shaft out the back from the rear cover location. There will be some needle bearings that will fall out of one gear just use wheel grease to hold them where they need to go during assembly. There is also a "syncro" ring that is very important make sure it goes back the way it was when you removed it. Put each piece back together like they came out.....good luck takes 30 min. or so

theres a 1/4 inch thick thrust washer just behind the front output bearing.
dont drop it when youre assembling. trust me. ;)
