Im looking into buying a 1988 Jeep Comanchee. Ive never owned a Jeep before and know little about them. I know the are subframe. I want to put a chevy small block in one cause I have it laying around and its something u dont see everyday.

Will I run into any problems with clearance or anything. My friend had put a 360 amc into a cherokee and I assume they share similar characteristics with a comanchee.

And yes I am changing the whole drivetrain. Im doing a th350 np208 or 205. for axles its toyotas

Thanks. o yeah I know this is mainly a rockcrawling site but im in JERSEY and we have MUD. so I want a truck with power and the 4.0 just wont cut spinning 38"+ tires

Yes it can be done. It will fit fine.

I'd look for something a little larger than yota axles though.

I realy dont plan on puttin a crazy motor in it and Im only running 38s. I think yota axles should hold up fine. I dont wanna put full size axles under it because of width. and I have experience with yotas in the past and feel that with 38's and an auto i shouldnt have a problem

it will fit great. I had a LT1 and 4l60e in my XJ looked like factory. axles will be a problem. I had a 44 up front and it ate front u-joint's.

i started doing a 86 comanchee with a 350/th350 205. i still have advanced adapters motor mounts and chrome headers. the mounts have only been used to mock up the engine and the headers have never been used.
i was doing this project for my dad and he has changed his mind to do a wrangler, so if you decide to do this prodject let me know i will make you a great deal.

thanks jason

i dont know if i would use toy axles either...to skiny. wide trac waggy wouldnt be bad use a different rear axle tho.
then again i wouldnt use a 350 either i would go with the 4.3 i like things light

I realy dont wanna go too wide because I have to drive about 30 miles to where i wheel and dont want to get too hassled by the cops. plus my friend has them laying around and i can get them for almost nothing. I dont mind the 4.3 but I like the sound and power of the 350.

I went on advance adapters website and I couldnt find anything for a jeep comanchee. Im guessing u have the adaptors for a cherokee?
