Like it says, I was wondering what the average price I should expect to pay is for a chevy 4.3L Vortec engine? It'll be going into an '85 Toyota, so Ill have to take out most of its drivetrain too (you guys already knew that :rasta: ). I did a quick search and came up with prices like $300 for the whole shabang(motor, fuel pump, computer, tranny). This seemed like there was no way it could be the norm so I was wonderin what can I actually expect? Thanks for the info!

got my TBI for 240 i think. vortecs are gonna be a little more IF you can find one at a junkyard. anyway pull off all the shit you dont need like flexplate, accessories you dont need, anything to get the price lower. i shoulda tossed a few more things before i brought it up front but didnt occur to me. this is a must if your going to pick n pull but i didnt see anything new enough to have a vortec motor, i know ive seen brand new ones on ebay for 800 shipped..............course this was after i bought mine and started tearing it down:mad: :(

I bought a complete non Vortec, 1987 TBI 4.3L chevy van for $650. I figured it was worth something to be able to pull all wiring myself, and drive the van to know what I was getting. Not the cheapest, but I *know* the motor runs pretty good.

Just FYI, I know a guy that has some new longblock vortec 4.3's for $900.00. They are from some company that takes new cars and does electric/hybrid conversions on them. I even think he warrantys them.
