I have a Ford NP435 that came out of a F150 that I bought and I never bothered to take the top cover off because the PO said that it shifted great and had no issues. Yeah right! I really don't know what gear it is but the largest gear is pretty chewed up. I have the Ford bellhousing also. I ended up going with another T176 tranny. Make me an offer.
