i have a 73 power wagon and i was wondering if anyone has run 52'' inch chevies in the front of a power wagon i have 4 inch lift springs up front right now and they dont flex for shit and they are 48'' eye to eye and the center pin is smack dab in the middle and the chevies would kick the axle backwards so i was thinking about drilling a hole for a new center pin to keep the axle in stock location because i dont want to make a new front hanger further out forward for the chevies. it is just an idea right now unless anyone else has ideas for some springs that flex good in the front and give me 4-6 inchs of lift

i have a 93 i am currently putting chevy rear 52"ers on my front. hafta build new perches/bumper/longer rear shackles but i had my axle moved forward on the old leafs, it will go a bit further when im done. like 6-7" forward from stock location.

I was reserching this for my truck and out of the dozens of posts over in the chevy forum about this, the conclusion is that is works very well. But they are very soft, so any on-road driving requires a sway bar and some tuned shocks. And then they suck driving on the road from the lack of spring rate.

im not too concerned about on road driving since the truck mostly sits and i drive it once in a while on road to go wheelin and drive it home... i was thinkin about drilling the new center pin hole where it needs to be i just dont want the old center pin hole to crack as far as the shackles i was going to leave the stock chevy shackles and bolt those to the stock shackles i have up front and i hope that will compensate for the longer spring and give me extra flex too

ive got a 77 pwerwagon and am also running 4 inch lift springs 48in., but i was going to use dodge rear springs they are also 52 inches. i was going to make a new spring perch in the rear and move the shackles to the front like seen on jeeps etc. i am also just kinda pondering the idea right now, this would also move the axle back so i wouldnt need a new driveline and hopefully correct my drive line angle. i say do it and get th flex fawk the pavement.

what are your thoughts on the 3/4 elliptic rear, does it work well?

wow that way forward!

these are also 52 inch chevy rears 6" lift. ill prolly swap them out for 4" or 2" lift springs. its a lil higher then i want and i need to put in a longer shackle. front axle moved about 5-6" more forward then with stock springs.

now did you put those springs in with the stock hanger up front? and not move the hanger forward you juss have to get longer shackles right?

you cant use the stock perch up front, you hafta build a new one further out. i just cut out the stock one and moved it forward. so front hangar forward 3" and 6.5" shackle in rear is what my application required..

this is finished product.
