I know there is another post about Mastercrafts, but I wanted to get some opinions on the difference between the two..

Over the last few days I have been talking with Beard and they seem like very nice people! The seat I have been talking with them about is the Super T-W.

Then I went to mastercrafts site and was looking at the Rubicon seat. Similar seat, I can get similar colors to what I want...

Which would you guys go with?

Both are pretty much the same price with shipping.

I've been a desert racer for years and will swear by Beard. They can take years of abuse and come up smiling. I have uses the Mastercraft once. They were comfy, but I don't know how they will hold up in the long run. I don't know about the models you are inquiring about specifically. I say go beard.

These seats are just as nice in my opinion, a lot cheaper, saw them for $140, Leon rosser catalog.

I bought the Corbeu Baja ss seats. they lasted less than a year before starting to fall apart. Th seams are all splitting, and the edges where you get in and out are worn. They are in a trailered trail rig that doesn't see daily use. Definately a case of "You get what you pay for" Beard is a family owned company here in AZ. They are desert racers themselves. I have seen their products stant up to severe use.

As everyone else has stated both are good seats. I went with the Beards because they were not as wide as the Master Crafts. I got the low backs and wouldn't trade them for anything, actually I'm going to get two more and make office chairs out of them. I'm sure you would have good luck out of either one.

Those were my original choice, but how comfortable are they? I know they are not goign to be a Cadillac seat, but I dont want to feel like I am sitting on a Park bench(I would get the padded covers)...

Most of the people i know who own them would trade them for a cold beverage- well almost free.

I considered buying some a few weeks ago. I spoke with a few friends that had them- the only one who considered them tolerable was the guy running the padded cover with another two inches of padding underneath. Everyone else said they were miserable. $80 for the seat with a padded cover- might as well buy the Corbeau- even if they don't last like a beard. People around here are having good luck with them- maybe it's too much sun out west??

I've got Rubicon Mastercrafts in a CJ-5 and I am happy with them. I've got black cloth and I would give them a thumbs up. I am a pretty big guy and they are snug. Haven't had Beards personally but I've had a few people who do have Breads tell me that they think my seats are of a little better quality, but honestly I don't know.

I have to agree that you can't really beat the price of Corbeau's and they fit/feel very nice. Hopefully their quality has gone up since the above one fell apart. I've been selling them for 2 years now and I have yet to have a complaint about the seats.

I run Beard Ultra Sports and they are very comfortable seats without the side bolsters that make it harder to get in and out of.. I gave 259 each for them and they have cutouts for a 5 point harness...

I have beards and am pleased with them, I got them because I got a good deal on them. Both are quality seats and very similar, but I think that he Mastercrafts are better. I need to get some new seats with the dual shoulder belt slots and was going to get some mastercrafts, want to buy my old beards?

Beard or Mastercraft doesn’t really matter. If you took them apart it would be hard to tell the difference. I have a set of beard seats in my crawler that raced the Baja 1000 in 1978. They are still in great shape. Those plastic seats will take $40.00 bucks out of your ass every time you set in them.

the reason I was gonna go plastic is the rest of my "cab" can take a rainstorm and laugh at it - how do the $$$ beard and mastercrafts do with the weather?

they will get wet but it will not hurt them. brandon don't be a tight ass on this part. trust me. my wife thanks me every time we go crawling for insisting on the Beards in our rig. even the rear bench. well worth every penny.

honestly, cost has nothing to do with this one. I mean I pay more for one stinking tire!

Just want something that can handle the weather. Rear bench? Cool.. I figured you just had some permanent mount kids seats back there :)

I still like OEM seats, you can spend some time and get pretty water resient (sp?)

But as for the plastic seats, I have seem some guys love them, Its more of an Ass thing, some people ass fit great, but if your like over 180lbs, your ass aint' going to fit in them
and no i have no idea how Lance sat in them

i run the rci plastic seats with covers and i like them. some people say they do not but i have never had a problem nor has anyone complained that has ridden in my jeep. i was told by a guy before i got mine that they needed to be tilted back just a bit. if they are sitting flat or tilted too much they would be uncomfortable. i followed his advice and i do not have a problem.
