I will say right now that i know next to nothing about automatic trannies, other than the basic prinicipals of how the torque converter works. In the instructions for setting up the TV cable it says that with your foot off the throttle the linkage should just barely touch the valve post. when the pedal is to the floor the linkage should shove the post all the way in til it bottoms against the housing. This part makes sense to me, but i cant quite get it to work.

Since i'm running an SMPI 4.3 (98) its all but impossible to modify the linkage at the throttle body. I'm using the post thats already there for the cruise control to pull the TV cable, but it doesn't have enough travel. the way i got the valve to work as good as it does is by taking the linkage off the tranny, taking the little wire hook off the arm and drilling the hole for it farther up the arm. basically shortening the amount of cable pull required to move the linkage. my problem now is that the linkage wont quite push the valve post all the way in, and because of the angle the cable is pulling it cant go any farther. Its really close tho, and its driving me nuts. Now i wanna get the opinion of some experts. Is this thing pushing in enough, or am i gonna have to spend the next month trying to figure out another linkage setup. here are some pics hopefully you can see them ok.

First here is the shot of the valve with the throttle fully closed:

now here are a couple shots with the pedal all the way to the floor:

and last, this is a shot of how its supposed to bottom out, i had to push the link with my thumb for this one:

as you can see its really close, but i wanna make sure i'm not gonna :nuke: my nice rebuilt tranny. thanks guys.

THE ADJUSTMENT IS MADE AT THE TBI ON THE CABLE ITSELF. YOU PUSH THE BUTTON IN PULL THE CABLE ALL THE WAY BACK THEN WITH YOUR HAND OPEN THE THROTTLE. THE CABLE WILL RATCHET TO THE DESIRED POSITION THATS ALL THERE IS TO IT

1. this isnt a TBI its SMPI

2. the adjustment is done with little clamp on the cable to adjust its length up by the throttle body, no ratchet.

3. the problem isn't cable adjustment, its arc length of the linkage. i already have it adjusted as close as possible to what its supposed to be.

4. you didn't answer my question.
