I found a 1980 F250 Ford with an 8-lug Semifloat 60 and wanted to know if it is C-clip and what the spline count is. Anyone know?

Might be a full floater with 30 spline axles. I think they came 4:10's or 4:56's.....

I just added to my post that it is semifloat not FF.

I also found and bought one of these from a P&P. I bought it primarily because of the 8-lug semi-floating design. Mine came out of a 1984 E-250 van, so it is likely the same as the one you found (they are rare). The one I have has 35-spline axles. It is a c-clip unit.

I was going to use this D60 in a project Cruiser I am building, but I later found a 35-spline D60HD full floater and will use that. I will part with the 35-spline semi floater for a reasonable price if anyone is interested.

It is a 35 spline c-clip axle. The only locker that will work is a lock-wrong...Mike

if it's in a Ford it's probably a Dana 61....

I see um in the yards all the time, always 35 spline C-clip.

Like said above, 35 spline c-clip axles. Not a bad 60 housing to narrow since it has thick axle tubes.

I bought one the other day for the gears and got to thinking...what if I cut the axle tube ends off and put on a set of (set #20) big ford ends, used a wheel bearing on the axle and cut the c-clip button off? Could have a cheap 35 spline 60 with stock junkyard axles avalible.

I thought of that possibility. Problem is that the diameter of the axle shaft that would serve as the bearing jounral is wrong for the Ford or any other appropriate bearing I could identify to weld onto the tubes. New axles would be required, I believe for that to work.

It is a 60 not a 61 at least it has 60 on the corner. I kind of thought it would good way to get a 35 spline axle but not if you end up having to buy new axles and ends.
