I'm usually the last one to suspect bad gas, but I think I actually got some....

Carbed 302, no emissions.

About 30 miles into a my last tank of gas my bronco started idling like crap. It lopes really bad until it finally dies. If I rev it up slightly it idles fine, then after a few seconds starts loping again. There is also some slight smoke coming out the tail pipe. Not black, but has a slight bluish tint. Very abnormal, and I don't see how it can be oil.

This is a low milage motor in very good condition. It's ran perfect for the last 5 thousand miles.

I swaped out the fuel filter this morning with no change. The ignition seems to be in good working order. Choke is not stuck, can't find any vacuum leaks, and fuel pump is working fine.

It runs down the road good, but when I stomp on it, it hesitates now. All this started after I filled up with gas last!

definately seems to be fuel related. I'm about to get some fuel dryer shit, thinking maybe I got a tank full of water <IMG SRC="smilies/pissed.gif" border="0">

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

WHAT KIND OF CARB, IF IT HAS BOWLS TAP ON THE BODY AND OR REMOVE THE MIXTURE SCREWS AND USE YOUR AIR COMPRESSOR TO BLOW THE OBSTRUCTION FROM THE PASSAGE THEN REPLACE THE SCREWS.

it's a Holley 2bbl. I have a motorcraft I was about to swap with it, but things are clearing up.

I bought some of that ISO-Heat crap, and now after about 30 miles it seems to be back to normal. Must have been some water in it.

The only other thing is I bought 91 octane that last time cuz I had a little ping. I wonder if it was choking on high octane at idle??

I'm just glad things are clearing up. I spent way to much time and money on this motor for it just to go to hell on me.

The higher octane wont effect your idle. I think you've got it from the sounds of it, but I know what you mean.. I just had a built CSB spin and throw a bearing with only 4k on it.

could have been some trash in the needle and seat area or a float sticking
