How does one find out the OEM part number for an item you need?

When we pulled the tie rod off of the waggy at Pull a Part, the little side stuck and we were unable to remove it from the knuckle. we got the sleeve and long half piece of the tie-rod assembly. Now I want to know how I find out what vehicles might have used the same tie rod end.

I would love to know the vehicles that match an 82 Grand Waggy, (not the same truck that donated the axles) .

More importantly, I would like to know how one goes about finding these things out for oneself online.
