: just got my $35 rifle
flint_knapper 01-31-2008, 04:01 AM Just delivered to my door yesterday was a Chinese T53 and it's dirty as pig!
Anyone who likes the 7.62X54R needs one of these it will be my next
truck gun, heck I should get another for the barn! These may not
have been shot much but have been used as a club a few times. It's
all here accept for the cleaning rod.
If you have a C&R and have not got one now is the time, he has been selling
them along time now and should be getting near the end.

TheRedHorseman 01-31-2008, 05:46 AM Don, the owner of Omega, is a good guy. His warehouse is my version of candy land, there is so much cool stuff that isn't listed on the website. I could literally spend months in there scrounging up parts to build things out of.
Aces'n'8s 01-31-2008, 06:31 AM Where is it?
I can only find parts with this link http://www.omega-weapons-systems.com/catalog.htm#top
edit....I find it hidden in the text.
So, is it beaver chewed or just some gouges/dings?

CRFRIDER 01-31-2008, 07:15 AM Thanks, 2 on the way!! got any pics of it??

Check stock before you go to buy one. Most of the stores in Denver are out of them right now.
Got three of them. Made good Christmas presents to friends and family. Look like sh!t but clean up ok. Wood's just a waste. Shoot 4-5 inch groups off hand with unknown magnetic surplus ammo.
Spend the money. Cheapest shootin' iron around.

lots of dings...no cracks or knotholes. The wood is different from any
thing I've owned before, it being some sort of Asian species the grain looks
tight like an oak.
mark_w 01-31-2008, 06:37 PM Hmm. Does he sell from his store front or is it strictly mail/internet ordering? The address is about 2 blocks from my office. I may stop over at lunch next week if he's open.
TheRedHorseman 01-31-2008, 07:49 PM Call first, he's pretty picky about who he lets in. He's mostly a gun show dealer.
Numidian 01-31-2008, 08:12 PM looks tight like an oak.
So it's not just the women over there?

TheRedHorseman 02-02-2008, 01:39 PM Now that I think of it, I might have to snag one of these, a muzzle cap and make some sort of lamp base for it. They're ugly enough that I could make a lamp out of it and nobody would be the wiser, thinking it's a useless relic. But I could hide the bolt and a stripper of ammo in the base and have a nifty home defense option...

The old man in Great Outdoors came to John Candy's defense with a lamp shotgun. It proved to be a formidable weapon against a bald head bear.
Numidian 02-02-2008, 02:51 PM Actually the shotgun gave the bear the bald head...get it right.

I wonder how expensive mags are and how reliable of a gun it is...
Frankenyota 02-02-2008, 04:55 PM I wonder how expensive mags are and how reliable of a gun it is...
I don't know but for that price I think I'll pick one up to screw around with. The mags are rock-n-lock like AK/Saiga mags so I would bet saiga mags could be modified to work. I'd cut the bbl down to 18.5" and that's it on that thing, if it's reliable it looks like a good buy.
Flexy Flatty 02-03-2008, 06:00 PM Actually the shotgun gave the bear the bald head...get it right.
Actually John Candy gave the bear the bald head back in the day and it came back, prompting the old man to come in and shoot the bald headed bear in the ass with the lamp shotgun...get it right.
Aces'n'8s 02-03-2008, 09:39 PM Actually the shotgun gave the bear the bald head...get it right.
The first time...the second time it gave him a bare ass....
You....get it right.
CRFRIDER 02-07-2008, 11:53 AM How long did it take you guys to get your rifles from Omega??
flint_knapper 02-07-2008, 01:33 PM from mailing M/O 10-14 days turnaround, they are sent fedex ground.
flint_knapper 02-11-2008, 07:52 AM Got her cleaned up and took her out sunday and put a few rounds (13) down range, actully into creek bed. I'm very happy with fit and function.
CRFRIDER 02-11-2008, 08:13 AM Just got 2 this weekend... Dirty as hell, but better than expected!! Great Packaging, buy these before they are gone.
flint_knapper 02-11-2008, 09:51 AM they are really nice for the $$, glad you like them.

Huge Thanks, ordering a few more for a couple buddies... If you ever run into smokin deals like this give me a heads up...
Imagine a Mosin 44, same thing only made in China. Adopted by the PRC in 1953, hence T53.
aloharover 02-12-2008, 10:41 AM Those 35$ rifles are nice and all, but I am gonna get me one of these.
Perfect accessory for the Rover. Mount it to a pintle on the roll cage and head out elk hunting

TheRedHorseman 02-12-2008, 10:47 AM Mmmmm 55 caliber goodness......
afroman006 02-12-2008, 10:54 AM How much does whatever license/permit you need to own a DD cost? Does it shoot anti-material rounds or is it just a DD because its so fucking huge?
TheRedHorseman 02-12-2008, 11:02 AM It has a rifled bore of over 1/2" In the case of the Boyes rifle pictured, it's 0.55 inches.
It's no different than a short barreled rifle/shotgun, machinegun, or suppressor, just a few forms, $200 extortion, and a bit of waiting.

Scroll to bottom.
"The SPS-12 is sort of an enlarged M-1 carbine made into a shotgun. It is a large, heavy weapon, which makes it easy to handle recoil, but also makes it sort of a beast to tote and handle. The action is basically a variation of the M-1 Carbine action, with an enlarged AK-style magazine and an AK-style magazine catch and release."
