Can I take a late 90's injected 4.3 and put a carbureted intake? Are the blocks the same? Are there any differences?
Thanks,

Ive got a 86 model 4bl intake on my 97 Vortec motor. I grinded the rivets off that hold the heat sheild on the bottom of the intake. Haven't had any clearence problems with the balancing shaft(or whatever its called) Most people want to see it after I tell them what I got

Yea don't get me wrong FI is the shit, but I needed to get my heep up and running and I had a 97 4.3 without an intake or any FI pieces. So I found an intake got it up and running. NOW i've got all the parts to swap FI on it, and guess what Im going to do it this winter. Nobody said carbs were better, he just asked could it be done? Now who's the ?

Uhhhh Yeah, what he said. Theres benefits of both. Sure FI runs better but my reason for possibly going with the carb is that you can get it to run very well and I can always fix it. Sorry, but one day the FI will go out and for that day I hope I have a simple carb. We'll see which way I go. Not decided yet.

i say go fi. i was like you and tried to hang on to the ol' carb for longer than i should of. i finally gave in and after the first off-road trip i wanted to bend over and kiss my a$$ ( i would have if i had been more flexable) i was so pleased at the way fi runs in the rough. fi i really takes wheelin to another level in my opinion.
