There is a fun show coming to my area next weekend. I've shot and like the XD 45. I'm undecided if I want the regular 4" or the tactical 5" version, but thats neither here nor there.

What I'm going to need is a light mounted on this bad boy. The XD's have that nice rail on them. I'm doing the light to be tacticool, it'll just be nice to have because I'll have this gun mounted next to my bed and I'll be carrying it on a semi-daily basis.

What lights(if any) come with a rail mount on them already or will I have to buy the light mount that springfield makes for the XD?

I was going to buy the TLR-2 for my XD.45 and was under the impression that it would mount right up. I say go with the 4", but that's just my preference.

Do yourself a favor, and buy an M&P instead. :)

Surefire, Streamlight, etc.
The XD is 1913 rail, not propriatary like some glocks and HKs.

I read the torture test on it and it had zero FTF's and zero FTE's. I found once instance of FTE and the guy said he was shooting cat's sneeze reloads. I've shot it and I like it

Great light, and the one I use on my XD. I would recommend the XD45 compact, can use the regular 13 round mags with a sleeve or 10 round shorties for better concealment. I've shot the M&P and wasn't the least bit impressed.

Tlr-1

I was looking at those today on ebay and they looked alright and then tonight I went over to my friend place and his roommate pulled out his H&k 40 that had a trl-2 which is almost identical to the trl-1. I liked it. So I think I have my mind made up on what I want. I might have to borrow the trl-2 to see what it looks like on the 4" vs the 5"

the 5" was overkill to try and CCW for me, the 4" is perfect

up ya. lets see:
1) is a S&W gun. I am not sure I will EVER buy a new S&W gun
2) 10+1 vrs 13+1
3) thumb safety on a striker fired weapon? (yes I know its just an option and I know someone will bring up the grip safety on the XD but that is passive. the thumb one you actualy have to "use" and is kinda retarded on a weapon with a trigger safety as well)
4) did they fix the trigger pull or do I have to fix it myself like i did with my sigma :flipoff2:
5) witness hole that I can not see or feel in the dark
6) its fugly :flipoff2:

1. I don't like S&W either
2. 45s are gay. Buy a 9mm and some *GOOD* carry ammo. Enjoy the uber-capacity, and revel in your mallninja-ness.
3. Don't order it like that. Thumb safetys are for 1911s and high-powers.
4. In order of worst to best stock trigger for run-and-gun, I'd say Glock, XD, Walther P99 (AS only), then M&P. Reset is good, break is crisp. Walther may be better, though. They're pretty close.

The M&P trigger is ver easy to improve if you're willing to stick a *gasp* Glock spring in there. Add a couple of setscrews for overtravel and pretravel stops, and it's a great trigger. It's also the most ergonomic of the group. I know ergonomics are usually referred to as subjective, but that's . The M&P fits your hand very well. If it doesn't, then you have gay hands.

5. Press-check.

6. And the XD isn't? The XD is the only poly quasi-DAO-action gun in this 'group' that's uglier than the Glock. :p
