A friend stopped by today with these pics. of this thing he picked up a while back as a project but his wife says it's gotta go. It's currently set up as electric but was originally gas. It's got 4 wheel hyd. drum brakes, heater, wipers, all glass intact, and has a Cali. liscense plate so I guess it could be street legal again. The pics. won't do it justice but it's small, barely enough room 2 adults in the cab and about a 5 foot bed. That's all I know about it for now. Anyhow, if anyone is interested in it as a project or fixer up shop run around rig, it's yours if you go get it. It's not mine but call Louis @ 530/621-2697 if you want more info.

It's ugly. Could be why it's rarely seen.

you see those things in japan all the time. they are run on the roads over there. they also use similar trucks on military bases. i have almost flipped on. we used to jump them too. they are tiny and you would not want one. they are not fast or comfortable. they are basically a truck/golf cart.

The motor/engine sit mid chasis, right behind the cab, under the bed. It'd be a cool little father son project or put sami running gear under it and make it a mini kids wheeler. :D

you could use the rear springs in a sami. a friend of mine did it. they are a bit stronger (perfect for spoa), add about 0.5" of lift, and articulate better than stock springs...

and you can also use the breaklines (they are longer) for spoa.

so dont lough at that vehicle, because its a nice resource for us sami owners.

It would sound like this: "OK, son, today we're going to work together on this totally limp and gay vehicle that I obviously overpaid for despite what it cost and in the process we will shrivel any self esteem you may have right along with what would have become your testicles! Now, doesn't that sound swell?"

Sons reply: "Dad, are you really my Dad, or are you actually a flamer?"

Cool, I always wanted a zuk pickup, sell me the back half for my extended wheel base project. I like the idea of being able to fold down or remove the sides.

We had a bunch of those when I was overseas in the Navy. Some of the guys I worked with could lay under it and bench press it from the rear axle.

It looks alot like the Cushmans they use in the City parks for the rangers and crap.

That thing could be bad ass!!! Sammy geared axles locked (Yotas if you got'em) with like 33's, BUT make it a center driven one person cab and use a Suzuki Swift GT engine/trany (turbo'd :smokin:) Mounted behind you and Run the CVs (off the front wheel drive tranny) like drive shafts. No T-case. Iv seen a dope ass buggie somewere that they use a Honda V-tec like that and it looks Fun as hell!!

I forget what the fuck its called though, they have a site and all for it. Any one know what Im talkin about? Its all tube frame, no body,,,,Yellow, I think they actually use zuke rears.

I saved this pic from somewhere. It is a stripped one. I'd rather have it than a Mule, it is a Suzuki.
These things are kinda cool. There are some guys, that import grey market tractors, that sell 'em for ~$3500. They cost alot less in Japan. The later model, used, ones that they bring over have big(er) 4 strokes. Some have low range. I think I've seen more Diahatsu's around than Carry's.
http://www.accuratepower.com/pics/Sportsmens_Gopher_trailer.JPG
I'd like to know if the motor is longitudinal or transverse.
I researched this a bit once. Get a bunch of people together with CASH and we'll get a container full of them. They are illegal as hell. There is an EPA law that they have to be speed-limited to be imported (usually locked in low or 1st gear ;) ) And if somebody gets hurt, or is stupid enough to take one on the road and have an accident, the Importer is liable. People have allready won suits over the tractors. (Mine has no ROPS, neither did the 8N it replaced) Still cool, I'd like to have one for the yard. MIKE

i'de already own it if i lived a few hundred miles closer. they used the same bed as the LWB pick up sj's. slice a tin top sammy and throw on the bed, wouldn't look so sickly then. then use what's left of the carry van to get the mail, or tube it out and go crazy.

here is one of those trucks that was for sale locally. the guy wanted 2500.00 for it . he imports farm tractors from Japan. He brings these trucks in as farm equipment. They dont meet safety standards or EPA so they cant be licenced. ( at least here in Tennessee ) Hammy (well it didnt let me post pics )

A guy that sells these signed up to SPAM on this post, he dug it up, posted his pics & sales pitch.
I reported it, post was deleted, he went to lj10.com & is doing same thing ............nothing like spam, he wants to sell then he can read up & see you become a PAYING VENDOR, just like most all BBs work, or he can hit CRAIGLIST.ORG & spam like all the chini import bikes, pocket bikes & car dealers do to ruin that place:(

Only only action shots in the yard, 30" tires no lockers, spring underr ect, stock, at they say 1,340 lbs it does pull up this hill easy, drivetrain seems well tucked away too, note centered front diff.
plans

SOA
cut hard top of LJ-20 & fit it to bolt- on
make 1/2 doors for winter
Front & rear bumpers
sammie front disk brakes
smaller tires for street
maybe some 31" boggers for snow
hit the rubicon & 4Dyce next year
make expansion chamber for exhaust
tow on light trailer or back of fullsize truck:D
make another dash & switch panel, I'm not happy with what I made :shaking:
install 750-1,100cc 4 banger bike motor

I don't think they woul;d just bolt up;)

sammy will be wider, these are micro small rigs

sammy would likely weigh more too, remember, stock I only have 24hp & that would be if new:eek:

lots of "stunt bikes" out there cheap though, just need to find a way to turn a chain to a driveshaft without turning motor sideways, but that could be done too maybe, I need a goofy jackshaft that meshes 2 gears crazy like

90° bike-to-car boxes are here Cool Gearboxes (http://www.jaxports.com/trike.htm) Be sure to check out their 3/4 scale, Harley Engined '32 Fords while you are there. Too much money (for the box) but you can see how they are doing it anyhow. PS. The LJ is pretty cool. MIKE
