83 CJ8 4.2, power steering....

The guy I got this from seems to have bolted in the power steering pump so it cannot be adjusted (who knows why)..

Can anyone post a picture or callout of how the plates and bolts should be?

Where is the adjusting bolt?

I have a 2 belt setup, one around the alternator and one around the power steering pump.

Thanks for any help.

This pic helped me when I converted my 84 to power steering. There is a triangluar plate the bolts to the water pump and the pump (behind the pully). The bolt in the middle goes through to the back plate and needs to be lose for adjusting. The back plate bolts to the intake and to the engine block. There are two pieces inbetween the front plate and rear plate. They are Alum. The rear half goes to the rear of the pump and has a 1/2" socket square for putting tension on the belt. There may be a nut on the rear of the pump that needs to be lose for adjusting the belt.

This shows the block mounting:

Here you can see some of the parts. The front plate is the triangle shaped one. Then you can also see the two alum brackets. Ignore the bracket that is on this pump, I think it was for a 4 cyl.

Hope this helps. Brian
