while tearing down my D60 front for a rebuild i set the bearing caps off to the side with the intention of marking them left and right. however, before i ever marked them my wife picked them up to move them from the kitchen counter (yes, this is the story im sticking with!!) and got them mixed up. i have no idea which cap came from which side now. yes, i know i should have marked them first thing but i didnt. now.... how do i determine which one goes where or does it really matter since i will be using all new bearings and races??

Every Dana I've ever seen has markings punched on the caps and housing. Look for some punched letters on the gasket mounting surface and the front of the caps.

You realize you need to mark them for up & down, too, right?

the letters are usually one sideways or upside down and the other upright. it should not be a problem but I do always mark them before I pull the bolts because I have seen them without marks.
