A lot of us are following the current news that Moser is now offering alloy shafts for Dana 60.
I'll soon be building my front 60, It's got Ford king pin style knuckles. (my rear is almost done)
I'm not sure what direction to go in selecting axle shafts for this front. I'm looking for help from you guys.
I've read somewhere that Randy's ring and pinion has alloy Dana 60 35 spline outers. Are they available for Ford?
Who's should I go with? Maybe mix and match? Say Dutchman inners and Moser outers?
The long side inner shaft will be custom length, as a side note.
Oppinions appreciated, thanks.

From what I have gathered from randy's is they say they "will" have them;but, this has been going on awhile. I heard from a very reputable person on this board that there is a rumor that Randy's axles for the 60 are coming from CHINA:rolleyes: ..this is a rumor and maybe someone from randy's might see this post and clarify this for us..As for Dutchman...I did not know they were making alloy or chrome moly inners.I was under the impression they just shortened and resplined spicer shafts like MOSER used to only do..I know for myself when someone tells me there stuff is stronger than "chrome moly" but they won't back it then I ain't buyin it because it makes me wonder if it so strong why won't they stand behind their product.Consider that your looking at $800 dollars for Moser's inner and outers and you would logically run CTM joints with them so now you just tacked on another 400..So your talking around $1200 bucks for joints and shafts not counting drive flanges if you don't already have them..Bottom line it is a lot of money to throw at something that is not warrantied(moser axles). Not to mention that this all might make the ring and pinion the weak link which is a scary thought to me.For myself I have decided to stick with spicer OEM replacements until something better comes along since it is not like they break like twigs and I am lucky enough to have a connection that sells me the spicer stuff at wholesale:D Hopefully my two cents will help your decisions making. Good luck.:D

Yeah, I'm concerned with this whole Moser thing. It would be nice to see them put their money where their mouth is.
I sure would like to go with 35 spline outers though, (while I'm assembling)
I've always felt it was better to have a finished plan, and work toward it. Seems to save money and hassle down the road that way.
A bunch of us should lobby for Dutchman to make these available, The questions and concerns would be answered then.

Just a rant but I called Moser about custom inners for a toy. This is after hearing all their hype and reading their web site. Well they no more do custom axles than I am president of MADD. Oh, maybe I should have gone to the same school as they did, then I'd know what "custom" means!
All they do is spline blanks. No blanks, no axles. Next.............

Well Doc I wanted to chime in here. Stick with 30 spline and see if you can break them. This solution worked for me in two ways
1) I get/got spare stubs dirt cheap from people who were upgrading to 35 spline stubs ($50 for inners and stubs -both sides)
2) It takes a lot to break a 30 spline stub shaft. It can be done with large tires and a big motor, but w/o that it's tough to do. We broke ONE through two competitions w/ the 5.9L in the TJ. We broke that one shifting an automatic from 1st to 2nd at 4500 rpms. Thats' not something you do often when trail riding.
Ive got 2 spare stubs and I'll run 30 spline until I break them. Although I don't think I'll break them anytime soon. See if you need 35 spline stubs first. Unless you're building a true beast, I don't think they're necessary.

I take it that Moser doesn't do custom length, That pretty much eliminates them as an option for me.
The fact that I have heard more negatives about them than positives, (alot of searches) eliminates them down the road if they do make them available.
Sounds to me that it would be wise for me to hold off, stick with Dutchman and if they offer them later, great.
I'm thinking Dutchman may have them soon enough.

Moser DOES do custom length. I just ordered a custom-length inner long side shaft for my RC 60 two days ago. It was $200 plus shipping and it should be here next week. I shortened my long side 3 5/8 inches, so the new shaft is 33.125 inches spline end to center cap. Will report more when I receive it if there's any interest.

Dion I'm interested to see how you make out with them.
Are you running the alloys?
