: What type and size tire are you running
Vortec_Cruiser 02-03-2008, 12:24 PM Although I've run several different size/types of tires on my FJ40 with good success on the rocks, I'm wondering if these same tires will do just as well on my F4-Toy for non-comp. The tires I currently have are 37" MTRs & 36.5" TSL Radials.
What are you running on your F-Toy, and is that for comp or pleasure
benttoy 02-03-2008, 01:03 PM currently we are running interco truxus stickies, these work great for us both trail and comps:smokin:
I was running 38.5" SX's for trail wheeling and have always like them. Currently have 37" Red Label Krawlers, which are quite a bit stickier than the SX's and hold lines alot better. :)

X2. I've also ran the Goodyears, they're good for one season then the sidewalls and lugs start tearing up. Not as sticky as the stickies though.
Skii4x$ 02-04-2008, 08:26 AM I am running 38.5 x 14.5 SX's, I dont really have much to compare to but #042 has some red label crawlers that seem to hold lines really well.
OlMan 02-04-2008, 08:40 AM I run 39.5x13.5x15 IROKs with Staun beadlocks. I do not compete.
FYI, depending on your suspension setup and chassis height relative to the frame, some 39+ tires size will not fit too well on your ftoy.
i have run 38sx 37mtr 37krawler
while the sx was a really tuff tire, i usally ran 2 lbs in the rear, 3 in front, it didn't stick to anything. and most sx's will start sticking after a few years of running them and siping thru their grooves. i was also tired of following lines that an ftoy ran right in front of me and then my sx's would slip off.
at the time, everyone i knew was on mtr's so got some and went and did the same lines i used to slide off of but this time made the line. they were also sticky enough to win the 06 championship in competition. 6 psi
in 07 i switched to krawlers and started making climbs that i never made in my mtr's. 6 psi
i never cut any sidewall of any tire.
if tires are your shoes, then get the best tire you can get. why spend 10+ grand on your rig and then go out to the trail just to slipp off rocks because you found some used TSL's 500 cheaper than some used Krawlers.
your fun level will go up if you have krawlers or some form of stickies. and what is not fun, is being on your sx's while other ftoys and buggies with their krawlers go up a line and you have to get a winch because the sx's just wont get it.
mtbrjon 02-04-2008, 09:37 AM X2. I've also ran the Goodyears, they're good for one season then the sidewalls and lugs start tearing up. Not as sticky as the stickies though.
Trxus stickies X3. The best all around tire I have ever used.
1sicbronconut 02-04-2008, 12:33 PM I've been running MTR's for about three years. They wrok great in Farmington, Moab, Arizona and Las Cruces. That being said I think I'll buy BFG krawlers next time, they seem to work even better than the MTR's.
Haggar 02-04-2008, 12:34 PM Trxus stickies X3. The best all around tire I have ever used.
How do the Trxus stickies compare, height wise, to a 37" Krawler or Maxxis, any idea?
Vortec_Cruiser 02-04-2008, 12:52 PM Thanks for the informative replies. :)
ftoy507 02-04-2008, 07:01 PM Maxxis trepador 37" 08 compound. TG beadlocks
Seem to be sticking better with time and wear.
What is a trxus sticky???

Interco Trxus tire made out of sticky compound.
FWIW I've got 37x14xR15 Pitbull Rockers for my rig. Seem like a good tire but only trail time will tell. Right now I've only got to look at them. :shaking:
Thanks for the informative replies. :)
one main thing is that no one talked about is: whatever brand you get, get the skinny tire!!! we already turn too fast into our leaves, a wider tire just makes it worse.
Albuquerque Jim 02-04-2008, 10:35 PM I will be running 37" MTR's, only because I found a set locally very cheap. This was a place to save on the build and not be locked into something major.
When these expire, I will probably upgrade to BFG Krawlers or Truxus Stickies (depending on budget and availability). Speaking of availability, how does one purchase sticky tires? I guess that may be a newb question, but I haven't ever thought of running them before this build. :flipoff2:
