How about one of those turbo 4 cylinders they put in the Thunderbirds?

That ford 6 would be a tough one. pretty long, but a good motor. I would be supprised if you actually do a swap, but if so, you should look at a little diesel.

Get a slant 6 dodge and add a turbo. Even better would to get the Aussie version and build that if you can find one.

I would LOVE to see a ford 300 in a scout 80. Especially if it were married to the original T-90. Then I would love it even more to see you post back here wanting to know why your T-90 doesnt have 1st or 2nd gear anymore.:flipoff2:

I just picked a 61 with a 4.3l vortec in it. More power, better econonmy and shorter than a 350.

More power than a 350? That's a pretty broad statement, considering Chevy built millions of 350s since at least '68. I don't have an exact date when 350s were first built, I do know that the small block was introduced in 1955, and in 68 they changed the size of the rod and main bearings, which is when my book starts.

According to "Chevy Small-Block Interchange Manual" Chevy has had a 350 rated at 200 hp or more every year from 1968 to 1988, with the exception of 1978 and 1981.

i would think a 258 amc would be an easier swap since the scout II came with them stock.

I had run into two different scout 80's for sale here locally, with the 300, the first owner mentioned it was the scout tranny, just took his word on it. The second ended up being two wheel drive so I never looked at it. I'm guessing the ford t-90 must be quite a bit different huh?

Besides the ultra specific bellhouse set up. The guts of the T90 are 1 step below a cub cadet lawn tractor as far as size and strength. I destroyed 1 with an 75 hp 152 on stock size tires.

*edit* I don't know if there was ever a 'ford' T90. I'm not a ford guy. I thought the guy said his 300 was married to the scout T90.

3.0L Benz turbo, NP435, Dana 18 (Thought that's not the Dana in the picture...this one is going in a Rover)

125hp, high revs so no gear change needed.

Cheap and easy to find.
