How long does it generally take in the summer months (Sierra Trek excluded) to loop from the normal entrance at Eagle Lakes to Commitee Trail and back to Eagle?

That's a question that needs to be answered with a lot of qualifications. River flow, rig set up, breakdowns, size of the group, driving experience and previous time on the trail all play a part.

It's impossible to give a time without knowing something about all those factors but I will say that given decent trail conditions, drivers that know where they are going on the trial and with driving experience and adequately set up rigs it is an easy day trip to run that section of the trail and return to the trail head.

Any problems and it can turn into an all day/all night adventure.

that could easily turn into a long day. I would expect a long day on a weekend but during the week it would be easy provided no breaks and good time making. Get across the first water hole and you are golden.

I did it in six hours with three rigs and no traffic, low flows, and no problems. Occasional stops to eat and take a break. But I have had it take all weekend too. :smokin:

The signal peak route seems to be faster and you stay off the freeway. Oh Yeah, don't overtighten your pulley bolts on the harmonic balancer and strip the threads out:flipoff2: I got lucky with nothing else breaking when the pulley flew off:D

How much of a challenge is Signal Peak? I've read that the east side from Rattlesnake is easy but from the peak down the west side is difficult. Is it more fun to traverse from east to west or west to east?

I could drive my Honda Accord to the top from the East side. Coming from the west side (from Eagle Lakes rd) is harder but not impossible.

Last year my buddy Tony missed the turn (or missed not turning & going straight) on his way to Fordyce lake from campground (Cisco Grove right?)

He was towing his TJ with his Dodge Dually 4x4 (fairly stock).
He ended up having to drive it all the way up to the top before he was able to turn around... I think he bent the fenders up a bit on the trailer & a hubcab on his Dodge.

Is the west side climb even worth the time?

If your looking for something challenging like going through the box, then no it wont be worth the time. Otherwise it is somewhat challenging and the views on the way up and at the top are well worth it. I would think a Jeep on 33's and one locker would be minimal and they would a bit of a hard time.

????

Ive had my 21' car hauler all the way down to fordyce lake :shaking: not recommended but doable when there is a dead fullsize dodge diesel that had to get towed out of there. he must have really been in the burrow pit to smack a fender.

6-8 to commitee 8-11 out meadow barring any breakdowns on a simple tj or cj locked running 35's or 33's. Last july 1st before they closed the trail 3 broken front axles and one busted R&P and one roll over left at 7am got back to cisco at 2 am. 2 good drivers who have run that trail for 20+ years and 3 fairly well equipt rigs minus the fact we still like running 33's and 35's just a bad day. nothing like getting fromt eh first winch hill and out comitee with only 2wd
