Take a guees at why. The courses have become thin enough to squeeze the fat and happy TSLs and Mickey Thompsons out of competition, literally. And since Goodyear doesn't have a tire tall enough to compete with the big boys, they'll make one. Only, they'll keep it thin enough to compete."

I would take it to mean that the gates on competition rockcrawling courses are being laid out such that wide tire'd vehicles are having a harder time fitting between the gates than the narrow tire'd vehicles.

Seems to me that the width is more dependant on axle width and rim size and backspacing than it is tire size. Narrow tires would make it easier to have a wide track width and a good turning radius without the tires hitting the springs.

well interco and MT are both designing there own dedicated rock tires, with a softer compund like most asume the 37" MT/R's . It is kinda looking like a conflict of interest when the courses cater to the sponsers products. Sad to see if this is really the case

my 37 MTRs are taller at trail pressure then the 39.5 boggers at least at the diff

That is true, isaw it for myself on Lance's rig this weekend at ARCA.

Strickly rocks, MT/R's are hard to beat, add any other factor such as mud on the rocks or slime and they really don't do very well.
I was first in line for the 35's when they came out and they lasted 3 trips to oklahoma and i went back to the SX's.

From what I've seen I haven't been impressed by their performance either when mud's added to the equation. I was dissapointed too cause I wanted some.

I'v been happy with my 35's in the Sierra rock, (which isn't too wet right now <IMG SRC="smilies/biggrin.gif" border="0"> ) but the 35's measure just under 34" on 15x8's. Not the TSL sizing I'm used to. When Interco says 36" they mean 36" and then some.

The MTR's are holding up better than any other tire I've had, as far as chunking and sidewall cuts. They are just the right mix of suppple and tough, with a nice tread compound to boot.

I beg to differ. My 36x12.50x15 TSL's measured 33.5" at street pressure brand new.

The last set of 36x12.5 TSL Radials I saw measured 36 and a bit of change on 15x8's with 36 pounds in them.

Maybe the bias ply's measure short?

Yeah right... I'd have to see it to believe it. Both of my sets of 36x12.5x15 TSL's measured 35.5 inches.

maybe you should check your tire size because my 33-12.50 tsl's measure 33.5 at street pressure, but skeetshooters 33-15.50sx's only measure about 30.
