I have been working on getting my front end finished up and am having problems. I have Rancho 44044 and A Waggy 44 Drivers Drop in the front.
Question: Do I need to change my steering setup? I am running the stock waggy setup. I know that I am going to have to bend the draglink to get it to clear the springs. But should I have to lengthen the Draglink or anything. This is in a 92 YJ.
Question 2. I am putting on the West TX Offroad Hydro Assist. Do I have to let my steering box go from complete lock to lock? Or will the ram stop when the set bolts hit the knuckle stops? I am using a 8" stroke ram. It is a tight fit that is why I am asking.
HELP!:mad2:

I am not positive but I would think the ram will push right through your steering stops and could cause some serious damage...again like I said I am not positive and what size shaft is it???1.5"???

You're right. That little steering stop won't do much good vs. a hydraulic ram. You need to set your ram up so your box goes lock to lock.
If you put a bend in your draglink you will more than likely have to lengthen it. Especially with the amount of lift provided by the 44044s. I'd plan on having a custom Z-draglink made for your application instead of trying to modify the stock link.

Ok, Do you have any suggestions on who I should go to for thedraglink? Someone that could get it too me before the end of the summer.
I figured that was the case on the ram. My draglink hitting is causing the box to not be able to go lock to lock. Also it would have to be lengthened yes. Thanks alot for the info. Anyone Else?

I would check with a spring shop for help with your Drag-Link. Down here our spring shops usually do steering also. I had a machine shop build my drag-link (it's straight) because they also did my high steer arm. I would guess any machine shop could fab up your Z-link and brace it for you. All you would need to tell them is the over-all length, drop, angle of dropped portion (you don't want it straight down), and distance of each *flat* section. They should be able to take into account the length of the rod-ends you'll be using and build accordingly. Also I'd have them making it adjustable on both ends (for ease of set-up) and that gives you play in overall length of ~3". that way your measurements don't have to be dead on.
Check in on the Suzuki page with your question about where to get a Z-draglink fabbed if you don't know/have a local machine shop to use. I believe they use this steering set-up some and could probably point you to a manufacturer.

I think I remember Matt saying that the 2x8 ram was a little slow for hydroassist and that 1.5 was better. 2 is better for full hydro steering. That is the size I am going to run on my full hydro as soon as I get back on my feet from this broken ankle...

Holy Mis-Information Batman:eek: !!!!
Yes, your ram has the power to push through your steering stops...BUT, Your Pump WILL hit the bypass when your steering stops hit and will not allow the ram to continue...you DO NOT NEED TO ADJUST YOUR STEERING BOX.
As for using the 44044's:
This moves your axle forward and it will probably cause your inverted Y steering to bind. All the set ups that I see have the tierod down and the draglink above the springs.

First of all thanks for all the help!
I talked to Scott at Rockstomper and he is going to make me a Tie and Draglink. He is going to make the Z in the Draglink. I dont have the cash for the high steer. I think that I might do that later.
Thanks Scout Dude for the Ram info!
