: Stroker 4.0 or 4.2?

I have a dilemma that I am trying to figure out. In my project Jeep I have a 4.2L(258) with the Carter Carb. The Carter is new/rebuilt but I know will be a pain later. For some upgrades like a 4.0 head, fuel injection, etc. I am buying a complete 4.0L motor that I am going to pick up this weekend.

At first I was going to keep the 4.2 and next year buy a stroker kit for it, have it bored out and put the 4.0 Head and fuel injection on it. Now I am wondering if I should just leave the 4.2 as is for now and start rebuilding the 4.0 as a stroker? I guess is comes down to is it better to stroke a 4.2 or a 4.0. or would it make a difference in the end?

If I go with the 4.2 then the 4.0 head will be modified and not be able to put back on the 4.0 later.

throw the 4.0 and get it running perfect. Get the ecm, harness, etc. Get everything for the 4.0 and install and go wheeling.

Then on your spare time read and study up on this website:
http://www.jeep4.0performance.4mg.com/index.html

Go into the "stroker" link first. then read every link from that website.

Here is another link:

Read up!

After you get that 4.0 purring like a kitten in your Heep, put your 4.2 in a safe place, and make sure you store it correctly to protect the crank and rods. Better yet, tear that puppy down and store the crank and rods in a manner so they won't rust(Hint. . Hint. .) Make sure you keep track as per which rod belongs to on the crank when you tear it down.

Did I ever say Im Jeolous for what you got:flipoff2:

Good luck

No go read and my post will make perfect sense
