: rolled tacoma now what?(need help)
ocorider 02-04-2008, 05:47 PM Alright I rolled my tacoma last weekend, the roof is smashed, pretty much the cab is totalled. Im not going through insurance(was on indian reservation, and other reasons)
Im trying to find a place or see if its possible to just rip the cab off and build the truck around a rollcage, and keep it street legal( wind shields is biggest conern) im looking for pictures or sites that I can look at to see what it would end up looking like, any help is greatly appreciated.
mobil1syn 02-04-2008, 05:55 PM are you looking for a truggy or a sealed cab situation
ocorider 02-04-2008, 06:21 PM sealed, but nothing special just fiberglass, so water doesnt get in
btw its a 06 tacoma prerunner
tnxjjeeper 02-04-2008, 06:28 PM How bad is the cab? Do you have any pics. I've seen people just jack the roof back up and get the windshield frame straight enough to put something back it. It's not going to be perfect, but it will work. I've also seen a truck a guy rolled, cut the roof off, built a cage, and got another roof and welded it on. That would make the cage work VERY easy.

cab is pretty bad, dont have any pics of the truck standing only upside down.
its definatly not an option to pull it out. im interested in the second idea though, that was on the lines of what I was thinking, how would I about doing that? and do you have an idea of the cost?

you looking for someone to do it or planning on doing it yourself?
you are going to have a hard time finding a replacement cab with it being an '06. lets see some pics.
tnxjjeeper 02-04-2008, 06:45 PM I'm guessing you could find a cab at a junkyard and have them cut the top half off from the bottom of the pillars. This is what the guy did I saw. You honestly couldn't tell he had done it, except for the 2 different colors...:D

my idea was to just scratch the cab, take a roll cage mount it on on the truck mount a windshield, doors, all necessary items to have it street legal, and thatd be it. Im not looking for luxury in the truck, just to have my system seats and carpeted floors
Cheapj7 02-04-2008, 08:23 PM Just hack the cab... Apply cage. Salvage window frame. Throw on a Jeep Bikini Top..
Or that was my approach anyway... Not my DD though.

BTW.. Not intentionally mud whompin.. Just Punishing the Taco for developing a nasty axle wrap early in the weekend, lol

You're going to pay out the ass if you have someone do it for you, and if you do you need to go to the shop you're going to have do it and have a plan. Think of exactly what you want, and how you want it done and then go to the shop. It's a prerunner...Part what you can out, and get a 4WD rig..... Or cut the whole thing up and throw a decent driverain under it. More$$$$

That's what I ended up doing... With the exception of the windsheild... This guy is not built to run trails like some of us do.... It would end up a DD chopped up truck (not that a chopped up rig is a bad thing)....... Unless he had some serious cash...
BTW.. Nice rig!
