Trying to find out a little history on this thing and came across this....
http://www.pmulcahy.com/lever-action_rifles/us_lever-action_rifles_marlin.htm
It is a Marlin (Glenfield) Model 36G. Am I getting a little too excited about the value that page says? It says less than 6k were made, but my serial number is 159xx.

I didn't think those were collectors?
It is a version of the Marlin 336, and they are about $250 to $350 in my area.
Everyone I know has one, or had one.
Here is one on gunbroker for $500.

bids on this one are up to $150, but haven't met reserve.

Marlin 336 on gunbroker are going between $200 and $300

Wow, just wow. I don't know where that guy gets his figures, but if anybody goes by his numbers, there's way more suckers out there than I had ever imagined. I looked a few things up in Fjestad's bluebook for comparison. My 336C, which I bought for 70.00 used in the mid 70's, is worth 2607.00 according to him. Fjestad says 400.00 at 100%. My 1895 in 45-70 (which is only a few years old and still made) is now worth 1439.00 ! I only paid 587.00 for it. In fact, the most valuable mod 36 listed was a 36ADL Deluxe. Less than 50 were made in 1941 and they show it at 1150.00 at 100%. I don't think Fjestad's is the bible as I've found several errors in it, but it's a baseline that most pawn shops and used gun dealers go by. I'd kinda like to know how that guy came up with those numbers.

If I could find a pawn shop to give me anything near those prices, I would be packing guns right now and headed that way.

The 36 was the predecessor to the Marlin 336.

Not According to the link :flipoff2:
Notes: Not to be confused with the Model 36 above, the Model 36G was basically a simplified Model 336 marketed under the Glenfield brand name instead of the Marlin name.

Yeah, upon further review that guy is crazy. Maybe he is purchasing? Course, I could have used that link when the house burned down and I had to get values on everything for the insurance company!
