Well:confused:

Long story short, I'm back at CSU Sacramento working on a masters in comp sci. I'd like to tailor my course work toward enticing Intel.

Now I'd like to further research Intel to ensure that I'll take the right courses and ensure that is where I want to end up. Haven't had any usable input from two of the facility at CSU I talked with :(

Anyone have a couple minutes to spare for a handful of questions?

I have a friend that is in the hi-tech instrumentation selling business and he has mentioned that Intel at Folsom may be going away. You may want to check into this before setting your sights on Intel.

ACK!:shaking:

Thanks for the heads up.

Even if they did disappear from Folsom, at least two of their other locations are of interest to me.

I know of at least half a dozen who no longer work at Intel from this board. Just do your best and see where you end up I would not aim for one place to work. Oh and learn your material if you ever want to get past a phone screen.

I'm not strictly eying Intel... but they fit the bill for my career goals(location and percieved use of "programmers" being highly valued)

Both of the people I talked with on campus gave the famous "take what interests you" line when asked about what courses intel would look favorably upon. My problem is I have no one specialty that interests me more than the other... all are fasinating.

I intend to bust ass on the classes so grades are not something I'm worried too much about.

I have a hunch Intel looks more favorable upon applicants who have had certain classes.

As an example, I have three "computer architecture" classes to choose from for one of my classes. If I know Intel favors one class more than the others, I'd jump into it.

My son has been working there for years. This is the answer he got about Intel leaving Folsom...

"Intel Folsom isn't going anywhere. We closed down our Sacramento office a while ago, then re-opened it last year I think. Only a few people working out there now. We're still going through lay-offs, but at the same time certain positions are open. For example my group just hired on a new guy, plus 2 new interns, and 2 more Engineers are coming. Just depends on what group you are in. Only funky thing that happened to the company recently was our flash department was sold to a company called Numonyx. Numonyx will reside in the bottom floor of FM3, meaning us Intel employees will no longer have access into that building. Kind of weird, but it is what it is. "

Internships are like future employee test drives. I don't work for Intel but our company has hired people while they're still completing their degree(s) after being an intern.
