one of the local mudders runs a complete undercariage from a full size Bronco.....it really takes off......he had to put the engine so far back you could pull the last two plug wires from inside the cab.....

it flew over the mud in the races but was very nose heavy......he jumped it a couople of times and bent the front axel...

have fun and good luck.....

Rob, is that the lowest you could fit the motor in, and have you measured for the front axle housing to pan clearance?

Also, what kinda room are you left with after the tranny?

I have a fuel injected 302 and was thinkin it would be cool. If you extended the frame and wheelbase, that should help balance it out.

Have you figured out the wieght difference between the Zuk combo and the ford combo?

Well, nothing is hard mounted yet, but I think that is about where the motor is going to sit. Pan to axle clearance shouldn't be an issue.. the front axle is getting pushed forward 8 inches. I'll just find a rear sump 302 pan and life should be good. The C4 is actually a super short tranny, I don't think the whole thing is going to be any longer than the stock Sami + divorced tcase setup. It may be a little tiny bit longer.. but I'm pushing the rear axle back as well, so it's a non issue. As far as the weight difference goes.. oh hell.. I'm also dropping in a dana44 front and a 12 bolt rear.. plus those 37's.. I wouldn't be suprised if we're adding at least 1000 pounds.. but I think the tradeoff (increasing hp and torque by at least 5x and having great durability) is well worth it.

I'm no expert at swaps, but I was told to get the motor as far down (pan to dif clearance again) as possible, and as far back as possible. Looks like you have it back to the wall.

I was also thinking of making new frame rails from the firewall forward for a coupla reasons:

1. Stronger, thicker material for the V8.

2. Extend the front axle out.

3. Adapt coil suspension, and shock hoops similar to yours.

4. Stout winch support

Did you try to get the motor lower?

Looks like your hood will close with the EFI upper manifold; do you have a body lift?

Thanks, hope I'm not being a pain.

I'm not too concerned about the frame itself.. it's fully boxed front to back, and with the cage in there and the tubular front thats going on.. i doubt it'll bend up too much. Where it sits is about where it's going to be. The upper intake is very close to the bottom of the hood. Unless we need to lower it or something for some yet unknown reason.. I think we're gonna keep it tucked up nice and tight. Maybe the pic is somehow deceiving.. but it's actually not sitting in there that high..

Oh, no body lift..
