I bought a Ford 9 inch that was suppost to be out of a Lincoln Versi. It has disc brakes and measures 64' from where the wheel meets the axles. a buddy of mine has some 9 inch axles that were also suppost to have come from a versi, but wont fit, they are to small. Any body have any ideas what it might be.

If I had to guess I would say one of them didn't come out of a Versi, or there were changes made in the rearend for different years, or someone swapped in a different 9" in one or both of the cars. :D

Sounds like you've got something other than a Versailles (pronounced: verse-eye) 9" Don't know what, but Versailles rears are 58.50" wide, not 64". You can have that axle narrowed and upgrade to large axle bearings at the same time for around $200. If done right, you should be able to use your friends shafts, and have a better axle than the Versailles rear.

Does it have big bearings?
Is it 28 spline?
was the original bolt pattern 5 on 4.5?

Sounds like an lincoln continental rear end to me.

coil or leaf springs??? likely if leaf sprung and roughly 58" it could be from a versallies, whereas if coil sprung and 64" it is likely from a mark series car. either way, it should have 28 spline axles.
