: Weekend Update 2/9 - 2/10
Ok made some progress on the Scout. I installed the radiator isolation mounts, per Michael Mayben (http://www.ihonlynorth.com/forums/fabrication/448-radiator-isolation-mounting-mm.html#post1495)write up. I finished cleaning out the inside of the 14 bolt axle and installed the gears. Made a fan shroud extension and started the new motor. It's alive!! I ran it for about 3 minutes and then let it cool down, and ran again for about 5 minutes. Then one more time again for about 5 minutes. Holding steady at 180 degrees, so far so good. No driving yet, as I'm trying to break it in slowly as the engine is real tight.
misterfubar 02-11-2008, 10:07 AM Played army all weekend so no Scout progress again... I think it's now been 6 months since I touched the thing.
Nathan 02-11-2008, 10:19 AM I ice raced the Scout on Saturday. I took 5th place in the 4x4 studded class. Track was much longer than last weekend. I was happy to finish in top 5. Local news was there and the Scout was on the news twice. Didn't even break anything for a change. Sunday stayed inside as it was way cold. Below zero temps with high winds.

Saturday-Made more parts for my strut kits. Got the rear end out of Major Screwups DD traveler. Pulled the gears/carrier. Swapped the lockright into the new 4 series carrier for the front. As soon as his Detroit gets here, it will get 4.10's and I can put the rear end back together. Also heckled the GF as she put the fresh heads back on her 345. Went to dinner. Saw a movie.
Sunday- Pressure washed the bikes. Did a once over on them in prep for next weekends riding trip. Kicked around the house. Started in on season 3 of Lost.

Mowed some weeds and washed cars on Sat.
76scoutman 02-11-2008, 11:47 AM Had in-laws in town all weekend so I stayed in the garage most of it. :flipoff2:

Gots to do that this coming weekend (CSS Ball in Wichita) :shaking:
The wife and I started to some initial planning for what we want to do on the Scout project. I might even have a line on a 60F and 14 bolt for a fairly reasonable price. Just sucks that everything is still 3 hours away from being able to work on shit.

Urban Wheeler 02-11-2008, 07:12 PM Left for Dayton OH at 3:30 AM on friday. It's about a 3 hour ride each way, so I tried to get some sleep on the way there. Tried. Jackass driving kept turning the heat off and I was freezing balls. I think that's why I felt like shit and slept all weekend.

Why aero star relays? Do they have a big bank of relays like that?
scout254 02-12-2008, 01:56 PM Why aero star relays? Do they have a big bank of relays like that?
Yup, comes with a cover too.:flipoff2:
But you do have to take it apart carefully to reroute some of the wires.

Blind Driver 02-12-2008, 06:33 PM All I've been doing is hauling salt to chicago. Seems the 2 salt barges are stuck in a ice jam . More work for me...if my kidneys hold out from driving the tri-axle dump truck :(
guidolyons 02-13-2008, 09:30 AM Seems the 2 salt barges are stuck in a ice jam
Hmm that's ironic:laughing: can't they spread a little salt around and melt themsleves free? :p
How cold is it? Too bad salt only works for melting ice down to about 15-20*F
Harvester of Sorrow 02-14-2008, 03:00 PM I was in Jackson,TN for the TORNADO's...my hotel was less than a mile from the UNION University that got mowed like the fucking lawn...:(
I was in 4 states in 4 days...about an 11,000 mile travel trip...just glad I ended the trip sleeping in my own bed and not a fucking coffin.
Once my CD project is done...focus will be on the Scout...maybe :shaking:
