Robert and I will be heading into JV from Texas next Wed and we really don't want to drive the entire 25 hours full of water if we don't have to. We also don't want to drive another 90 minutes out of our way to Mustard Dogs to fill up. Is there any where on the way in(coming down the 10 from AZ)that we can stop and fill our tanks? :roxy:

Why don't you pm Hammer Hog or one of the others guys that live in Yucca, they would be right on youor way.

Im going to say Yucca Valley is your best bet. Your going to be driving through there any way. If you where coming through Barstow, I would let you fill up with water at my House. Im right off the I-40 and 247 South is just down the road from me

you could fill up at my house, just off buena vista and 247 in yucca, about 1000 feet of dirt road and ya gotta turn around, but plenty of room

Couple of things Mel

You could probably fill up at any truck stop... like the Flying J before you leave Palm Springs, when I took the Aussies to the Hammers after worlds last year, we filled up at Dennys in Barstow

The other thing, there is a guy who comes out the lake bed and empties your crapper and fills up your water. I'm going to be arranging for his service on Wednesday and Thursday.

When does this guy typically come out?

That would be an awesome service. As long as he uses different tanks for the water (grey and blue ;) )

I've never used him, he has signs at the entrance to Boone Rd. I'll be out there for 10 days starting on Saturday. I'm sure I'll need him once or twice.

dThat Flying J sucks if you're towing and not using the truck lanes.

For those coming in from the East via I-10, try getting off at Desert Center and heading up 177, then 62 into Yucca Valley. It's quicker than looping way around on I-10 and then cutting back and there are no monster hills to pull. Only downside is there isn't much out there once you leave I-10 at Desert Center......
