I need to convert a 6 lug d44 from an early cherokee to a 5x5.5 to match the rear axle in my xj. It would suck to carry to spares. Anyone know whether or not there's enough meat in a wheel spacer to convert a six lug to 5x5.5? Any companies out there who would take the time to do it? The few companies I've talked to don't do custom orders.
Or, will it be best to take my 5x5.5 rear axles that came from Alloyusa and have them tapped for 6 lug? I'm stumped. A little help is appreciated.

either have your rear axle drilled for 6 lug or do a search on ford/chevy dana 44's
you can use all of your parts with the ford rotor, which gives you 5 on 5.5. do a search and check out mr. n's page.

May even be cheaper to swap the rear axles out to match. Just saying sometimes it is sometimes its not all depends on the situation.

I can probably hit some yards tomorrow. What year of chevy truck would those spindles have come from? The rotors for the ford should be from like 76-79? correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks for the info. Keep it coming.
