I have about had it with all of these fee's. I live in Coos Bay Oregon right near the sand dunes. In order to go wheeling out there first they make you buy a sand dunes sticker. Then you get out their and they make you buy a forest pass or parks pass or what ever the dang thing is. How ridiculous. I told the Forest Service ranger how BS it is that I have to buy a sticker to go out on the dunes then another one to drive on the road to go out to the dunes. She told me it was for road and park maintence. I told her I wasn't going to use the park, and I asked what my tax $$$$ went for then. I spun out and left. I drove down the rail road tracks to get to the dunes.

yeah I agree with ya, the reason we pay tax dollars AND trail fees is so they can modify all the roads and make them more accesible, rasing more $ so they can make it more accesible and raise more $..
where are all the profit share attorneys that follow the offroad segment?
BTW I wouldn't advise driving on railroad tracks..its a fedral offense

In CA the Forest Service has this Adventure Pass. It is enforced as a parking pass. Meaning that is you are driving, or parking on private property, you don't need one.

I know, I am a work for the Feds  , I drove down the little gravel road next to the tracks. They are owned by Warehouser a timber company and they don't care as long as the trains aren't in.
it really bugs me cause they say they are for road improvements and for campground improvements. Well I know our tax $$$ go for roads, and the campground has a fee so where does that fee go. Also the money I pay for my sticker to let me drive arcoss the sand dunes, what does that do? I mean they are not making the sand any eaiser to go across....
President Bush said during his election he would end these dumb @ss fee's. Oh well.

the northwest forest pass is only a parking pass at trailheads. they have no juristiction to say you cannot drive on a road and you can look that up in the rules.
and they cannot ticket you if you are park in a location that is not signed or further than 500 feet from an area that is signed. I dont pay for it anywhere I would rather walk the 500 feet to the trailhead than pay their stinking fee to the use woods in MY own countie that is 94% owned by the forest service. (skamania county)
sack up and pay the $20.....as it is, rec fees do not even come close to covering the costs of the parks or the services you are receiving while in the parks.
edit: its not even $20, its $10 http://www.odf.state.or.us/TSF/atvpermits.htm

Thats what I'm saying though. I'm not using any of the facilities. I am just driving down a road to get to the area where I can drive out to the dunes. Now they have a dumb fee booth up on the road and you can't drive by it without buying the dumb pass or getting a ticket. I would be more then happy to pay it if I was camping or parking in the staging area or something like that.
