i have the skyy brackets to do a SAS on my 97 tahoe. i am wondering from others what your distance from the front welded on bracket eye to the front rear welded on bracket eye is? also with your measurement are you using the skyy recommended 73 to 87 springs? i want to make sure my shackle angle will be the correct angle when all said is done. i do not want to have to cut the brackets off and get them rewelded. hopefully someone is using these brackets.
thanks

why not install one bracket, put the springs on and see where the other one needs to be?

I didn't have the SKy kit, but used the ORU one. They said 47" back from the front eye. This made for a shitty shackle angle, was almost straight up/down. Figure out where you want the front, as that will locate the axle itself. Depending how big of a spring you are using, if you take the main leaf only, flatten out on the ground, measure eye to eye, then measure back from the front hanger, that will tell you where the shackle eye will be when it's flexed out. There is a formula to figure out where it has to go, but don't remember what it is. You can bolt the kit on, so if you don't like the shackle angle, just redrill the holes and relocate the mount.
Hope this made sense, only had 1/2 cup of coffee....:)

What springs are you using?
There's alot of factors involved.

reason being is i am having a guy weld on the brackets before i take any ifs off that way i can drive it home to where ill be working on the vehicle.
as for springs ill be using some superlift springs i got from a friend.

The springs are 73-87 GM Superlift springs

Right but I now for a fact that the superlift 12" springs are always short. You really want to tack your shackle hanger in a place good enough where you can put a jack under the spring and compress it untill the vehicle wants to lift off the jackstands or whatever. Then you can see what kind of angle you have on the shackle.
With new springs allow for a little sag.

The measurement should be 46 1/2 center to center

no i am not running the same brackets but i have set up alot of sas trucks with the 73-87 front springs. with the front hole and the pivot point of the shackle level using stock length shackles it sets your caster at the factory angle which is 6 degrees.

i plan on doing this on the same type vehicle i was wondering what the relationship between lift is.( a 4 inch lift spring gets you 4",6",5" etc.etc.)
some help would be appreciated

the skyy hanger for the front will give you an approximate 6" of lift from the start. so 6" springs plus the brackets will yield 12" total of lift.
i have not installed my kit yet, this is just what i have read on other forums and from my understanding talking to skyy manufacturing.
