My brothers 1993 Ford Explorer Air Con worked great until today. The clutch froze up and broke the serpintine belt. Wondering if I can replace the AC electric clutch or better off going with a whole new compressor. Like I said the AC was running fine, it just apprears the clutch went south.
Could use some sound advice here.

Thanks

Well I am not real familiar with Exploders but generally you can replace the clutch on AC units no prob except they are usually around $100 or so...the compressor (If going with the same thing) would be a lot more unless you find a junkyard unit...:D

You can replace the clutch only as long as the clutch seizing up didnt mess up the compressor. $80 @ O'Reillys (www.oreillyauto.com)...same prices @ Autozone (www.autozone.com). You can get a reman compressor for $220 or a new one for $300.

Your local parts bitch...
