I am doing a sas on my 98 tacoma with a 3.4 v6 and i was told that i needed a oil pan out of a 2wd tacoma with the 3.4 v6 so i went looking for one in rancho cordova and i was having a hard time finding one the i found one for $75 and i was glad to find someone who had it and i bought it but i think it is from a pre runner which i didn't notice it was wrong until i got home. I wasn't sure what to look for in the differance they all looked the same to me without actually seeing how it mounted on the vehicle. I went to another place and they said they had one out of a t100 which is the same motor but the pan is designed differant and that was the one i needed but i already payed for the other one and the other place is not a place i want to deal with again and they don't take returns. Anyway i just want to know what pan i need and where i can get one without paying a arm and a leg.

You need one out of a 2 wheel drive truck. the pre-runner is built on the same chassis as the 4-wheel drive truck so it will have the same oil pan. I picked up all my stuff from the dealership new. i ended up paying about $180 for everthing, That includes the pan, new dipstick tube, dipstick, rear oil sump and a block off plate. This was all for my 2.7L but I would assume that the price would be about the same if not a little more.
these are the part numbers you need for your 3.4L from a 2wd t-100. You would probably save a good amount of time just buying new from the dealership.

On my 3.0 I did not get the dip stick. Filled it up with the correct amount of oil and re-marked the stock dipstick. I am cheap.:flipoff2:
