Like most of you who own LWB Samurais, I have not been able to find a source for replacement soft tops. Today, I found a Upholstery shop here in Florida that specializes in boat tops but also does custom soft tops for other applications. They will be using my original LWB soft top for the pattern. If any of you LWB Samurai owners are interested in having new tops made, this is your chance. I will update this thread when I get the cost. I should mention that my original top was modified some years back when the front part wore out. I purchased the front part of the Sunport top from Bestop along with the Sunport retainer strip and installed it on my 1986 LWB Samurai. http://www.bestop.com/installation_guides/51761.pdf
I used the hard plastic windshield piece from the front of the old top and had it sewn to the shortened old top so it would fit in the newly installed Sunport retainer clip. The LWB top that I am having made is a duplicate of the modified back piece (called the "rear deck") in the PDF link above. I recently got a replacement front deck from Bestop for $41. My original Bestop Sunport front deck was pretty well weathered and I wanted it to match the custom rear deck that I am having made. More info to follow.

Very interested in this. Post pics and costs if possible. I fabricated the back half of the body on my rig and am getting close to needing a top made.

Nice if I was not in the planning stages of cutting mine up I would look at this as well. I have a buddy that does canvas tops and once mine is Carved up and ready he is making one. I work for a wreckers, so I have access to soft covers off the pick ups that come in, I think I will use that for the first and see how it goes.
