Rock Tractor 07-09-2002, 05:05 AM I checked, it's the following weekend. I really think those FAWKERS should give some money back for the restoration of the trail or goive some of there time to work on the trail. They shut the trail down and charge people money to go threw the CON.
JoshC 07-09-2002, 08:36 AM Mike, Curtis, and it sounds like (via PM) Abba is going to go too. Anybody else traveling with there better half? This will be my wife, Amy's, first time in the Con!

Scout Dude 07-09-2002, 02:17 PM Let's clear this up too:
Arrive Friday after work? Then wheel into Buck the first night? Everyone have rocklights? (I need to rewire mine)
Or were you planning on taking Friday off and heading up early that morning? If that's the case, I'll have to catch up with you guys at camp cuz I can't take the day off.
Also, found a spare tranny today..just need to pull it this weekend.

Uh, ummm........well the Terrabull is now on 31's, and has been stripped of it's rollcage. It's not quite ready to do da con Mann. If I'm slow and gentle with the Rallye, then I "should" be o.k.. I really have'nt even wheeled the Rallye yet, so it is kind of a de-virginizing of sorts...........oops there's that virgin thing again:emb4:

Scout Dude 07-10-2002, 11:01 AM Ok...talked to Rockslut.
We are planning on heading up Friday afterwork..this means that we will be a Loon around 6 or 7 PM. We want to try to run the box and soup bowl in my Scout but would rather try it during the daytime..so, if you guys head to Buck on the first night then we will probably meet up with you sometime Sat morning and we will probably camp at Loon or Ellis. I will install my CB so we can find each other ....what channel? If you guys want to camp somewhere between the Box and Loon, then we can meet you Firday night. We have camped right above the soupbowl before and it is a great spot..nice large flat area...You guys interested in camping there the first night?
- Joel
Rubicrawler 07-10-2002, 11:10 AM Joel- We'll be on channel 14. Don't know about camping at the Soup Bowl. It depends on how a couple of the rigs are working. This will be Josh's first run with the new axles.
The Rockslut 07-10-2002, 11:56 AM What is the plan for Saturday? Everyone heading back from Buck to watch/attempt the sluice?

We talked about using Buck as base camp. The plan is to go all the way through. Does that make Sunday the travel out day from Buck, don't know?
Assuming the Scout is running, I'll plan on meeting up with you at the box at 10:00, does that work?
Joe
jdjanda 07-10-2002, 12:03 PM We have 10!! confirmed Scout's plus two others.

I was thinking that there were a couple of reasons that she would be coming.
1. Keep you in line
2. Make sure you are all washed up, and to tuck you in at night
3. So you dont get scared in your tent at night
Or
4. (Most likely reason)........is it because she can wheel better than you! :D :flipoff2:

Curtis 07-14-2002, 09:30 PM I worked on mine from 9am to 7:30pm today. I made the coil cups, the coil retainers, put the 465/203/205 together and positioned the rear end (both height and length). AND, the shit I made was from scratch 1/4 flat with just an angle grinder and welder ;)
Tomorrow the current tranny and tcase come out, the new ones go in, new cross member, get drivelines ready to make new ones and make the links.
I dunno. It's gonna be close if I can make it next weekend or not. BUT, this thing looks GREAT with the longer wheel base. It's right around 110" now. I'll try to get pics tomorrow.

You better get that sheet on that virgin Scout :p Nice frigg'n fab job.
Tranny is in, ran into all sorts of trouble, drilled the flywheel out for 10" TC, striped one of the convertor holes in the process. Three should get me through for a while. Installed the remote filter, and moved the cooler to infront of the rad. Poured in some fluid and started her up. No weird noises thus far. I even made the B&M cable work.
Need to finish the twin sticks on the t-case and bolt that sucker in. Then finish up the fan shroud, bolt the OBA back in, and bolt the cage down.
If I have time pick up a new CB, trim the fenders, and front bump stops.
Oh if I have time look into the starting problem.
It's going to be a long week.

Don't sweat the CB part. I have a Cobra 40 channel , 3 watt Waki Talki with a Cig lighter power cord. You can borrow for the week end. It takes 10 AA batteries if you want to use it away from the truck.

You guys could always setup camp and hold space for the 100 or so of us that are going to be there. We have to go back and meet up with Joel, and a few others at the box around 10 or so. Friday should be a long night.
Joe
Rock Tractor 07-15-2002, 12:54 AM We talked about that today. We can get a camp set up. I'm gonna go crash, just got back from Niagra rim and I'm FAWKING tired.
Scout Dude 07-15-2002, 09:23 AM Hey Joe...are you planning on meeting us at the box on Friday at 10 PM or Sat at 10 am? I couldn't keep up...

Depends, are you planning to camp at the box Friday? I'd like to hang around the box for some like night action (wonder if the disco ball will be going). Saturday would also be fun to hang and watch the excitment also. I'd like to give the box a shot depending on how the Scout is running. I plan on heading to the box Friday night, little night wheeling :D
Scout Dude 07-15-2002, 11:35 AM OK...we will wheel in Friday night to Spider...I have my CB mounted so I'll see if you guys are within range when I get there. I expect to be there before 8ish
Monkeyboy 07-16-2002, 02:12 PM Dammit dammit dammit...
I might have to back out on this weekends run.
Temp red sticker is expired and I need to get my junk smogged.
I really don't need to get halfway their and get my junk towed away.
I still have Friday off I think I will get my smog and registration junk worked out then.

No shit! Come on Todd. Call in sick and get that taken care of. You are the entertainment! You have to be there! :D
Monkeyboy 07-16-2002, 02:36 PM Getting it tagged will be easy Only problem is I need to wait for my hookup.
Do you know how damn hard it is to find a Smog place that will overlook the non operational check engine light.
You seriously have to have an in to get that crap taken care of.
It's not like I drive a sputtering Scout that had a difficult time passing from the lot brand new.
They don't feel sorry for me at all in my beat 1990 XJ.

Couple of turns of the idle screws and my baby cruised through smog. Maybe all the fancy computer sheet is your real problem. At least when Sara gets her own Scout there will always be one capable rig in the house :flipoff2:
Rubicrawler 07-16-2002, 02:47 PM Todd- just a thought- can you borrow Ryan's truck and trailer?

Probably but in the end I will still have an un tagged Vehicle.
Registration is payed for I just do not have current tags due to the Smog thing.
Brian is going to make some arrangements for me to get my smog check taken care of.
It will probably happen on friday.

Does that mean you'll be driving up Friday night???
Scout Dude 07-16-2002, 03:02 PM back to those of us who are going....:flipoff2:
Mark, or anyone else for that matter, are you getting a fire permit? I'd like to cook my food over my propane stove, but I don't think that I'll make it to a ranger station in time to get a permit Friday night?
God you guys are as bad as Nasvik ;)

Scout Dude 07-17-2002, 11:21 AM Update:
As of now, SeanP is out...busted ARB. He may try to head up Sat to buck to meet us...
Also, as of right now, Rockslut, has sat on his ass and still doesn't have a rear d-line:flipoff2: . He is going to try to fab one tonight and if he can balance it, then he will bring his rig.
regardless if Rockslut get's his going or not, Goose will be calling in sick to Job #2 in order to join us. He has a blue YJ on 38's.
I am trying to get my buddy, Jonas to go. He has a '64 also, but his has a 318/727/20 on 35's...his wife will be out of town and he is trying to get someone to take care of his horses and such..we'll see if he can make it.
