moveaside 07-10-2002, 07:25 PM Speaking of the Calrocs thing(sorry to wait until Wed to post)Who was the guy who lost his tire right after the first rock? He lost the front left tire and then rode on the rim the rest of the way through. It was by no means easy and it actually looked like WTF but he made it just curious who it is/was? If I remember right it was a Yoda and it was Sun night.
Big Rich 07-10-2002, 08:34 PM That would be Gary Swett, purple yoda, he balanced it on the big rock ledge a couple of times, without going on his lid. Gary also spotted for Ken Moeller (the Frame).
Ken worked his butt off all weekend helping everyone.

moveaside 07-10-2002, 08:42 PM That was so sweet as soon as he lost the tire I thought oh man he's tatered:nuke: Then he kept going and I thought wow he's gonna go for it:eek: But when he made it over that last rock I was like WTF:vader2: Dude that's making it or breaking it right there. Sure made sitting thru the tractor pulls in the heat well worth it:DNext time you see him tell him I said paid for my ticket right there:smokin:
Sluice Sally 07-10-2002, 10:34 PM I have heard a rumor, that Calrocs is hosting the same thing in Placerville in the near future. If so, are there any other women drivers out there up for it?? I was the only one in Napa, first comp, and scared to death, but I think I wanna run again! Maybe this time I won't break:p
Big Rich 07-10-2002, 10:39 PM Jenni, glad to see you here. Hope you'll want to run ib P.ville when the time comes. I will be meeting with the organizers next week and hope to post more then.
Rich
kidwired 07-11-2002, 07:40 AM hey rich, what kind of promoting did you do for the napa deal? I live in sonoma and this is the only place I heard about it.
Rich, is this the event you did that included mud? Or is that one still to come?

This is the one that included mub and sled pulls, the crowd was quiet while the other events took place, but as son as we started to run, they got loud. the crowd always built in size and waited for us.
As for the advertizing, that was handled by Truck guys, they ran 2 weeks of radio ads, nothing in the paper? :(
Tex, the Deiselcentral.com guys we're interested in your big event, you might want to contact them. And If you want us to build a rock garden at the event, we have some good experience and strategies to make them awesome.

Well, must not have been real great competition if the crowd wasn't too into it. Need some hotter mudders I guess :)

The guy who promotes my stuff is getting more & more into radio again this year despite the fact that it didn't do him much good in '99 when that's what he relied on. My theory has always been fliers in every gas station & parts store in town, then a couple of newspaper ads starting about 2 weeks out.

Thanks, I'll check those guys out. As for a rock garden, I do think its time has come. We're trying to get into some larger facilities that might be able to accomodate something like that along with what we're already doing :)
