Has anyone eliminated the rear brake proportioning lever? I have one on my 3/4 ton 89 Burb and I just installed an 8 inch lift to fit my 38's. The lever will need to be extended if I keep it.

Rumor has it that you can remove the lever, splice the two lines together and eliminate it with no adverse affects andactual better braeking performance. Has anyone done this, or know someone that has?

I haven't (yet) eliminated mine. I'm going to try to use it. If you flex it out at all, you will confuse the devil out of the prop valve attached to the frame. It will alternately think your heavy loaded, and light loaded. On mine, I cut the rivet out on the axle side and mounted the arm to a cross member with a sliding bolt arrangement. That way I can adjust the sensitivity of the back brakes AND it is no longer dependent on axle orientation to the frame…
